Industrial Training Experience Highlight.
30 September 2020.
I just done my individual presentation for DAR Energy Final Review Session in the presence of Ir. Rozali, the owner of the company as well several lecturers from my faculty namely Dr. Bahiyah, Dr. Fatehah and Dr. Roshafima. The review session meant to highlight the tasks done by the interns for the entire duration of 3 months and the things that they accomplished as well as the challenges that they faced. So I'm going highlight some of the experience that I gained.
Firstly, DAR Energy is an engineering consultant company that is comprised of many splendid individuals with years of experience. I was placed in the project management department and was tasked to assist the project engineer with the project of Provision of EPCC for Padang K5 Infill Development Project or K5 for short. The project is a brownfield project which mean that it is a modification or upgrade on an existing platform as opposed to greenfield which mean that the project will start from ground zero. The main client, Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. planned to install a new wellhead on the platform and DAR Energy was the sub contractor mainly to focus on the engineering part of this project.
As a trainee, I was exposed to the reality of working life and it is very tiring and stressful especially being a project engineer which revolves around the interaction between engineers in the company and the clients. Despite the challenges, I can see that they can maintain their professionalism and took their time to pass their knowledge to me. During my internship, I also learned on the importance of communication and teamworking skills as it contributes toward the overall progress of the project. Normally a project can take months to complete and any hiccup faced in the middle phase of the project can cause an unnecessary increment in the time required to finish the project in which case both the company and the client will suffer a lose in profit. I'm also able to meet a lot of new people from various background and I really love how friendly and approachable they are despite their workload.
Lastly, I'm thankful for the opportunity given by DAR Energy as well as the contribution by Mr. Ashri the project manager for this project and Faruq the project engineer that helped me a lot during my internship here at DAR Energy.
Reflection on Thermodynamic Presentation
1st June 2018.
This is a picture of me and my group mates during our presentation with Prof. Masafumi Goto. The project that was given require us to co-operate and work in a team based environment. Our group has chosen air conditioner as the subject of our presentation and throughout the process I have learn a lot about how an air conditioner works and it really helped me out especially during the finals.
During the period of which we are supposed to submit the report, our group somehow lack some communications and it really hinders the process of making our final report. As a leader, this problem was mainly due to my sub-par leadership skills. However, our group managed to submit the final report although it may not be as good as I wanted it to be.
In a nutshell, I believe this project is a good assignment to the students as it helps to develop communication and teamwork skills. I do hope, that I can do better during the next assignment.
