Reflection

1. Reflect on the overall content of the video.

a. What did you learn from the video?

  • The National Education Philosophy consists of 5 fundamental elements which are on-going effort, a holistic and integrated manner, personal well-being and contribution to the harmony of the family, society and nation as to produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced.
  • The Four Pillars of Learning that was introduced by UNESCO; learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together and learning to be are aligned with four issues in the NEP which is intellect, spirit, emotional, and

b. What are the unique points, in your opinion?

  • FPK are able to instil and cultivate national consciousness of the students in a multiethnic community by promoting ideals, shared thoughts and loyalties to forge national unity and
  • It’s indeed an eye-opening when Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli affirmed and urged that educators must be bold and confidence to uphold the FPK in global

c. What are the contents that you do not understand in the video?

  • I cannot wrap my head around when Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli mentioned that our education model is not sustainable at minute 47:30

2. Connect the content of the video to the brief review of Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan (FPK) in class.

a. What are the issues that Tan Sri Dzul raised with regard to the implementation of FPK?

  • The FPK should have already produced a magnitude of cohorts of balanced and harmonious Malaysian citizens since the FPK was
  • The teachers in school are less likely to value the FPK and more focus on pulling off excellence KPI, rather than what the students really
  • The implementation of FPK in the school system is imperative to foster unity, equal understanding and strong social connection regardless of different races and religions
  • There is no consistency and a profound understanding of FPK whenever a new minister of education takes over the
  • FPK has a clear meaning and vision which is perfectly structured for 21st century education, but needs more emphasis on acuan Malaysia.

b. Read the comments and questions posted in the video. Can you summarise the main concerns from the audience?

  • The conspicuous concerns raised by the commentators are pertaining to the education system realistically being politicized for political mileage or political And the lack or absence of uniqueness and authenticity of Malaysia values in the system.

c. In your opinion, which are the issues that should be addressed urgently?

  • The issue of an ever-changing education system when a new minister enters the office. As stated by Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli, the education system in Finland never changes, but is always enhanced by continuing and setting the existing values in the
  • The issue of teachers lack comprehension of FPK and fail to uphold it which results in the education cannot be served well. This setback can lead the student being unbalanced between the academic, emotional, physical, moral, and failure to comply with FPK desire. I also love to add what Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli said at the end of the video, “It all starts within And this is a responsibility as an educator to ensure that the students are well educated with high moral standards and able to contribute for the nation and country.”

3. Now, reflect on your role as a future educator.

a. What are the lessons learnt?

  • I’ve learned that educators (myself too) necessarily understand what FPK is as it enables teachers to acquire a grasp of the conceptual field of education and an ability to find their way around the often contested views within that field, which in turn affect upon the normative structure of particular education systems.
  • The FPK also needs to be thoroughly translated into the educational process and transmitted into the actual life of the secondary students for them to comply with FPK's desire and understand what has been intended by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

b. How can you be better at your future role, knowing the issues raised in item 2 above?

  • Value the principles and goals of FPK and the importance of it to be translated into the school curriculum so I can encourage my future students to the development of balanced, well-rounded, trained and skilled individuals who cherish the national aspiration for unity.
  • Encouraging the development of 21st century learning skills in students to form innovative mindsets, and positive attitudes that can prepare them to embrace current and future challenges and successfully achieve the SDGs listed in the 2030 Agenda by the UN.
