Independence Day Indoor Games Tournament RSS

Self-Reflection

Participating in an indoor games tournament had a significant impact on the development of my communication and teamworking skills. As an introverted person, I usually struggle to communicate effectively with others, but the tournament allowed me to work on this weakness. During the games, I was required to communicate with my teammates effectively, conveying strategies, and making quick decisions. Through this, I learned how to be more assertive in my communication, how to listen to others, and how to express my ideas clearly.

Furthermore, the tournament helped me to develop my teamworking skills. I learned how to work collaboratively with others towards a common goal. I was able to understand my teammates' strengths and weaknesses, and I could delegate tasks based on each person's abilities. I also learned how to give and receive feedback constructively, which helped us to improve our overall performance as a team.

Participating in the tournament also gave me a sense of self-strength and confidence. Although I was initially hesitant to participate due to my lack of experience in the sport, I realized that I had strengths in other areas. For example, I had excellent critical thinking skills that helped me to analyze situations quickly and come up with effective solutions. This realization boosted my confidence and allowed me to contribute more to the team.

However, I did face some challenges during the tournament. One of the most significant challenges was dealing with the pressure of performing well. As a competitive person, I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well, and this sometimes affected my performance negatively. To overcome this challenge, I learned to focus on the present moment and not worry too much about the outcome. I also talked to my teammates and coach for support, which helped me to relax and perform better.

Mini Report

Participation in an online indoor games tournament entails several advantages, i. e. skill-building, relationship building, and an overall improvement in the well-being of participants, which in this case were students stuck inside their homes during the pandemic and online classes. Participating in the indoor games tournaments allowed individuals to develop their skills in the specific sport or game, i.e. ludo, carrom, cards (29), etc. Regular practice and participation helped to improve hand-eye coordination, reflexes, and overall performance. Furthermore, the Indoor games tournament provided an opportunity for individuals to connect with others who shared similar interests and passions. It helped to build a sense of community and belonging. Finally, the event provided a much-needed break from daily routines and helps to improve mental and emotional wellbeing. It allowed students to unwind, de-stress and feel a sense of accomplishment and pride, especially on the occasion of the Bangladeshi Independence Day.

The indoor game that I actively participated during the tournament was a boardgame called Ludo. The Ludo matches happened within the span of 2 days, with teams simultaneously competing with other teams in order to qualify to the next round. The Graduate Attributes that were focused on were communication skills and teamworking skills. The ability to effectively and clearly articulate ideas and information in a variety of settings, such as written and oral communication, is an important attribute of a successful graduate. Since the indoor games event was held in the presence of multiple participants competing at the same time with each other, active listening skills, the ability to engage in productive dialogue, and the capacity to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and contexts were required. Furthermore, Since some of the games consisted of teams, it required partnering up with another individual, which promoted the graduate success attribute to collaborate effectively with others and to lead and inspire my team towards our common goal.
