Participating in the ASEAN Data Science Explorers 2021 National Finals as a university freshman alongside my partner, Kam Min Yi, under the team name Hepta-X Factor, marked a significant milestone in my academic journey. It was our debut in a competition that required not only technical prowess but also collaborative and analytical thinking.

As newcomers, the initial stages of understanding the competition framework and utilizing SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) were challenging. However, the learning curve was steep, and the experience invaluable. Working alongside Kam Min Yi brought a dynamic synergy to Hepta-X Factor, as we navigated through the intricacies of data analytics storyboarding.

The competition served as a platform for us to showcase our burgeoning data analytics skills while addressing real-world issues aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The process of selecting, gathering datasets, and developing our storyboard not only honed our technical abilities but also underscored the importance of effective communication and collaboration.

Reaching the national finals was a testament to our dedication and newfound skills. Crafting PowerPoint presentations and undergoing the judging process further elevated our understanding of the practical applications of data analytics.

As freshmen, this competition provided us with an early exposure to the professional world of data science and problem-solving. The journey not only expanded our knowledge but also instilled in us a sense of responsibility toward addressing societal challenges through data-driven solutions.

Looking back, Hepta-X Factor's participation in the ASEAN DSE competition was a formative experience, laying the foundation for our academic and professional growth. It ignited a passion for data science and instilled confidence in our ability to contribute meaningfully to the broader ASEAN community.
