Technology and Information System

To be honest, before I entered UTM and start studying computer science, I don’t have really good basic knowledge about computer technologies and information technologies systems. For example, I don’t know what is system software and application software. I also don’t know the difference between ROM and RAM. In the beginning, I don’t even have the idea that RAM is a type of memory. After attending the lessons, I have a chance to strengthen my basic knowledge of computers. It helps me a lot whenever I want to perform a task on my computers. For instance, I know Microsoft Access is better than Microsoft Excel in dealing with a large amount of data.

In this subject, we also have a lot of chances to take part in various industrial visits. In the past 4 months, we already visited PETRONAS, Big Data Week and UTM CICT Gallerium. I learned a lot of knowledge about how the markets look at big data and AI. I also learned that what should I do to improve my competitive advantage when I graduated from UTM and start working.

Besides, through assignments and projects, I mastered the skill of design thinking. I know the steps to design products or services that fit customers’ needs and able to solve their problems. I also learned how to assemble a PC through group activities.
