MINI REPORT

Everyone’s Book: an e-book is an open event in collaboration with the Silambam Society of the Universiti Utara Malaysia. This initiative was taken by the Silambam Society of Universiti Utara Malaysia and they approached Persatuan Mahasiswa Hindu UTM to have volunteers share ideas and contribute to the making of the e-book.

The e-book is a collection of the basics of using a laptop. It acts as a guidebook for users to have quick shortcuts and simple solutions to the day-to-day problems they faced. The e-book is mainly targeted at university students but also the public as it benefits everyone who uses a laptop or computer. The e-book consists of keyboard shortcuts and troubleshooting several simple issues.

This was my first collaboration program with another society from a different university. It was a pleasure to join hands with the society for a good initiative.

SELF REFLECTION

I had a great time throughout this program. It gave a good exposure to how collaborative events occur and the preparation process. My task was simple yet communication was the first barrier since the team was not someone familiar to me. The initial stages were difficult but after the first meeting, the crew was fun yet responsible. They conducted the whole program with ease.

In this program, I showcased my Information Management and Lifelong Learning Skills by helping out by providing new information and ideas to include in the e-book itself. Besides, I improved my communication skills by constantly communicating with the crew for their feedback and giving opinions concisely. Besides, my ethics and integrity were tested in this event we are strictly prohibited from sharing any information regarding the book with anyone until the official release.

The program was the stepping stone for initiating and enrolling in several programs regardless if it is done online or physical. As an extrovert, I did learn that online programs will also give the same experiences but improve my technical skills such as handling an event online and the preparations that go with it. I am really happy I volunteered to be a crew in this program.
