• Take videos and photographs for documentation.

Speak Up Workshop is an initiative of the Multimedia unit of JKM KTDI. It is one of the KOQ programs of semester two session 2021/2022. The main objective of this workshop is to enhance communication skills among the students. This workshop is also to build confidence in students and teach them how to communicate well and present themself as a confident individual in public. Being courageous while communicating and having impressive and critical thinking skills is one of the most important skills that makes someone look better and enhance one’s performance. This workshop is quite unique compared to other workshops as this was a practical workshop where participants were given activities at the end of the workshop to practically implement all the knowledge they learned in the workshop. The participants were split into small groups and were asked to present a topic given by the crew.

The program was held on 5th April 2022 from 2.30 p.m. to 5.00p.m. the speaker was Miss Syasya Fooad who is a popular content creator and freelance emcee. This workshop was conducted and organised by a team of 13. We were split into different units with different job scope and this time I was in the publicity and multimedia unit. This was the first time for me to be in the multimedia unit of a program and it was a pleasant experience learning some new things throughout this workshop.

This workshop has given me the opportunity to improve my skills and enhance my team working skills. I learned the importance of showcasing one’s skill when the opportunity is given and the advantages of working in a team to reduce the workload.

During the workshop, there was a minor technical issue which was a technical issue in the video created by me to be played at the beginning of the workshop. We only realised the mistake during the workshop and failed to recognise the issues during the workshop rehearsal. Once we have encountered the problem,instead of panicking we think of another alternative and edit the video quickly and rectify the issue caused. From this issue, I learned that we have to check each and every element of a program in the rehearsal so we will not miss out on anything.

Besides being the committee member and member of the multimedia and publicity unit, this workshop gave me the opportunity to improve my skills on video editing and poster designing. I used this opportunity wisely to show my skill and talent by editing 3 videos for this program and designing backdrop and certificate for this program. This skill is called enterprising skill and it is one of the graduates attributes.

In addition, I also learned the importance of teamwork. As the saying goes, teamwork divides the work and multiplies the success. In the multimedia and publicity unit we divided the workload among the unit members so that we could finish all the tasks in time and also ensure the quality of the work is remarkable. In my opinion, I think I have been a supportive and cooperative team member and a good listener. I strongly believe that these are one of the important qualities of a good team member.
