• Monitoring progress of the planning & execution of each task of Protocol unit,Technical  unit and Registration unit.

Let’s Learn Photoshop is a programme organised by the Multimedia unit of Jawatankuasa Pelajar Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail. This programme is a great initiative to teach students about basic knowledge about how to use Adobe Photoshop as it is one of the most used and most famous designing tools and graphic editor. The main motive of this workshop is to give exposure to careers related tools and skills like editing, graphics, and web designing. Learning basic designing and editing skills can help students for a side hustle and also help to build a career path for some. Nowadays many employers are looking for employees with graphic editing skills and having those skills increases the chance of employment for fresh graduates.

This program was organised and conducted by a team of 14 crews including me. The organisers were split into different units such as multimedia unit, registration unit, external affairs unit, protocol and technical unit. This was a one day program which was divided into 2 slots which are from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 4.00p.m. This program had 33 participants which consisted of UTM students and staff together with the public. The speaker and tutor of this workshop is Encik Marzuqi Bin Muhammad. 

 I joined this activity to brush up my communication skills and leadership skills. As the vice director of this program, I have implemented all the skills I have and learned more about teamwork and adaptability.

Being the vice president of LLPS, I faced many challenges while organising this activity. One of the challenges I faced is miscommunication among the crew. Since this activity is organised and conducted fully online all the preparations and meetings were also held virtually. This made it difficult for us to convey some messages and information and this issue caused miscommunication among the crew. At the end we were able to overcome this problem by having frequent meetings with the crew and also monitoring the units by creating a whatsapp group for each unit.

Organising this workshop helped me to strengthen my communication skills as I learned that delivering information face to face is far more different than communicating virtually. I learned that I have to always choose my words wisely and make sure the information I deliver is crystal clear so that misunderstandings can be avoided. Next, I also improved my leadership skills by organising this workshop. I learned to be more open minded about the ideas given by the crew and also consider the pros and cons in each idea. I also learned that a leader should always be calm and composed while handling a problem because the lack of control in handling issues wisely can affect the flow of the event.

Overall, this workshop has made me become a more mature leader with good communication skills. The skills I have developed throughout this program will definitely help me when I step into a competitive and stressful working environment in the future.
