SECP1513 (TIS) Reflection

1. What is my goal/dream concerning my course/program?

My goal regarding this course is to learn and gain skills about computer components, parts, software and anything related to Technology and Information System. I want to be expand my knowledge as much as I can in this field because I believe that technology is humanity's future

2. What is the action/improvement/plan necessary for me to improve my potential in the industry?

My improvement plan is to explore more about the IT industry. This course had taught me a lot about the industry through weekly talks and had opened my eyes about what to do in the future. But it is my duty to learn more about it first because the industry demands always change throughout the years so it is very important to keep myself updated.

3. My opinion on whether this subject contributes to my knowledge on a specific area?

In my opinion, this subject contributes to my expand my knowledge about computer and software as well as preparing me with the future through the weekly talks.

4. Acknowledgement for lecturer

I am very thankful to Allah that I got the opportunity to have Dr Izzyan Izzati as my professor for the TIS subject. Her teaching method is very suitable for online learning and does not stress the students. She is very helpful and always looks out for her students when there is an assignment ongoing. She always guide my team and give clear answers whenever we have a questions regarding our projects and assignments. I will always be in her debt because of how she had helped me and my team through this first semester. I would also like to use this space to also acknowledge my other wonderful professors for this semester as an honorable mention. Thank you to Dr. Razana Alwee (Discrete Structure), Dr Haswadi Hassan (Digital Logic), Goh Eg Su (Programming Technique), Dr Zulkifli (Penghayatan Etika), Dr Kilani (Philosophy and Current Issue) and Dr Nina Diana (Graduate Success Attributes) that guided me all the way through my first semester of UTM and had gave me a wonderful impression on this university.

My Resume

Reflection

Assalamualaikum and a very good day. Through this project, there is a lot that I have learnt and gained along the way. The very first thing I want to say is thank you to my teammates and professor, Dr. Nor Azizah for helping and guiding me throughout the project. I would not have done this project as easily as I did it if it’s not because of them. My teammates is very swift in completing the project and has a vast knowledge on the subject so it is easy to ask for guidance. The professor is also very good at handling her class. At the end of every lecture, she would spend some time to help us with our problem especially regarding the dataset that we chose. She would also answer our questions in Telegram no matter when. That is why I am very grateful to be in her class.

Now moving on the project itself, I have learnt several new things regarding data extraction from a dataset. Before this, I did not know that there is so much things that we can get from a single dataset. I also learned new programming method using the R Studio which is how to calculate regression analysis since that is my part in the project. Furthermore, I also found out that there is a lot of public data available online for public research purpose. This is a very useful thing to have since it can contribute to save time for people who wanted to make a certain research regarding a certain topic since the data for that research is already available.

For my own personal development, I have increase my teamwork ability through this project by working together with my team to finish this project. I also learn to manage my time better since the project overlaps with some other assignments. That is all for my reflection regarding this project. Assalamualaikum and have a great day.

My AWS Journey & Reflection

AWS Journey

My journey in getting the AWS badge had been a bumpy ride from the very beginning until the very end. But it was really worth the effort since I got the chance to learn a lot of things about cloud computing and services.

The reason why my journey has been a rough is because at the beginning of the semester, a professor from another section accidentally added me into his AWS course. At first I didn’t notice that I was in wrong section but I soon realized when the professor mentioned the section (class). I and several other students was then kicked out from his AWS course after informing him about it. Several days after joining my actual section’s Telegram group, my professor gave us the link to join her AWS course. At first, I entered the course using my smartphone and didn’t bother about it until a month after when my professor reminded our section to complete the course before the due date.

This is where another problem occurred. I wanted to use my computer to complete the AWS course but when I tried to login, it says that my username was not in the database. I tried for about an hour before giving up. Two months later, my professor reminded us again about the due date. This time, I was more determined since a lot of my sectionmate had already completed the AWS course and got a certificate and a badge. I tried to login again and reset my password using the initial link given by my professor and I was finally able to login into the AWS academy from my computer. Everything was going smooth until another problem occurred. I can’t participate in the lab activity. I tried everything that I could to try and do the lab. I refreshed the page, asked a friend about the lab and even relogin into the AWS academy but to no avail. So from that point onwards, I just watched the AWS lecture video up until the 10th module before trying the lab again and completing all the knowledge check. Somehow, I’m finally able to do the lab on the last day (the day that the AWS was due) and completed all 10 knowledge check. That’s why it took me so long to complete the AWS course but I did it. I did it and it was fun. The sense of accomplishments after all the hardships makes it 100 times better. And that is my journey, my AWS journey. It took me a cumulative time of 20 hours to complete it.

Reflection

1. A summary of what I have gained from completing the course

Through this course I have gained a lot of new information and knowledge regarding technology and information systems especially cloud services. I got to know the benefits of cloud computing and how much better it is compared to the conventional method.

2. My motivation to complete this project?

My greatest motivation is to not let my professor down and to be able to achieve what my friends had already achieved, getting the AWS certificate and the badge.

3. My opinion whether getting the badge is easy or difficult? Which module
is the easiest/most difficult

In my honest opinion, it was not easy. The academy requires me to watch all the lecture videos and do labs exercises. The most difficult modules are the modules that contains lab exercise since my computer somehow couldn't run the lab untul the last day of the project.

4. What’s a badge worth?

I don't really think that it worth so much but in the same time, I think that it actually worth a lot. It represents all the time and energy that I had spent in order to achieve it.

5. Feedback whether getting the badge improve my knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing

Yes. It definitely has improve my knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing through all of the knowledge check.

6. My opinion whether every company should shift to Cloud Computing?

I don't think that every company should switch to Cloud Computing since some of the company can run just fine without it and can use the extra resources on other things that actually matter more.

7. My opinion whether every computer science/UTM student should learn
Cloud Computing (get the AWS badge?).

Yes. It might seem to be something that is new and is not used broadly but I think that Cloud Computing can actually become the future of technology and learning Cloud Computing can prepare them for the future.

8. Any advice to my friends who have not get the AWS badge yet?

Go and complete it now. The course is not that hard and is actually for your own benefits in the future. Don't worry about getting the wrong answer during knowledge check. You can always retry and the notes they gave if you answer incorrectly can actually become a great source to revise the thing you had learned.

9. What is my direction after completing the badge?

For now, I'm not putting a lot of attention to Cloud Computing yet since there is something else that I wanted to focus first but I will surely will learn more bout Cloud Computing in the future

10. My opinion about getting the AWS badge that is included in SECP1513
subject

I think that it is a good thing, although it might eat up some of your time since the course had already provide quite a few projects already (task after each Industry Talks)

Self-Reflection

During this event, the event that I specifically joined is the online Valorant tournament. Valorant is an online 5v5 PVP shooting  game. My teammates during this event are Zarel, Zulaikha, Wen Xuan and Haris. This game emphasize on our teamworking and communications skills. It also requires critical thinking skills since we are required to go against another team and need to create a strategy based on our team line up. Adaptability is also important since the map of the game and the enemy line up is random and was only revealed during the match. Overall, this is a very joyful and unique experience for me during my first semester in UTM. Me and my teammates got the opportunity to go against enemies that is of higher ranks than us and learn new strategies and playing method.
