Mini Report
In my third semester, I engaged in the Packet Tracer program orchestrated by PERSAKA. The decision to participate in this workshop was driven by a desire to augment my skill set. As a computer science student, practical knowledge in networking is indispensable. The Packet Tracer workshop offered a valuable opportunity to enhance my comprehension of network simulation and troubleshooting through hands-on experience with the Packet Tracer software. Beyond skill development, the workshop aligned seamlessly with my academic pursuits, providing a practical application platform for concepts learned in Network Communication.
The focus of the Packet Tracer program, organized by PERSAKA, was on cultivating various graduate attributes, particularly thinking skills. Participants, including myself, delved into practical problem-solving scenarios, honing technical competence in network simulation, configuration, and troubleshooting. The workshop not only enabled us to analyze and identify solutions for network issues but also facilitated the development of effective communication skills. Engaging with speakers and fellow participants enhanced my ability to articulate questions and engage in meaningful discussions about the workshop content.
Throughout the workshop, a diverse range of activities unfolded. Starting with an overview of Packet Tracer's features, participants were familiarized with the user interface and guided through the creation and configuration of network devices. The session on Network Topology Design provided insights into principles governing efficient and scalable network design using Packet Tracer. Practical sessions then delved into the configuration of network devices, IP address assignment, and troubleshooting common network issues, providing hands-on experience in utilizing Packet Tracer.
Undoubtedly, the Packet Tracer program organized by PERSAKA proved to be an enriching experience, fostering the development of practical skills in network simulation, configuration, and troubleshooting. The alignment with various graduate attributes, including technical competence, problem-solving, and communication skills, underscored the program's value. This engagement has significantly contributed to both my academic and professional growth, leaving me enthusiastic about future activities organized by PERSAKA.
Self Reflection
Engaging in the Packet Tracer program organized by PERSAKA marked a significant milestone in my academic journey, notably impacting the development of my graduate attributes. The workshop substantially enhanced my thinking skills by immersing me in the practicalities of network analysis, root cause identification, and the subsequent implementation of effective solutions. Throughout the program, I observed a noticeable improvement in my technical competence, gaining a deeper understanding of network simulation, configuration, and troubleshooting using the invaluable Packet Tracer software which is an asset for my future career.
The experience also played a pivotal role in refining my communication skills, particularly through interactions with the workshop speakers. Actively participating in discussions and seeking clarification allowed me to grasp the intricacies of the workshop content and fostered an eagerness to learn. However, like any educational endeavor, challenges arose, with time constraints being a notable obstacle. To overcome this, I proactively sought additional resources from the speaker, such as presentation slides and Packet Tracer templates, enabling me to continue learning independently.
Navigating the complexities of network simulation tools, especially as a beginner, presented its own set of challenges. However, seeking guidance from the speaker and persistently asking for clarification whenever faced with difficulties proved instrumental in overcoming these hurdles. In conclusion, my participation in the Packet Tracer program organized by PERSAKA has undeniably contributed to the development of my technical skills and critical thinking. Despite facing challenges, the experience has equipped me with valuable insights, demonstrating my ability to manage and derive maximum benefit from such educational opportunities.
