BOOTH #21 (KEIRSEY PERSONALITY TYPES)

Personality refers to the psychological classification of different types of individuals. Personality types differ for each persons based on their background and trait. The famous one of personally types is Keirsey personal types. Keirsey transforms the understanding of people that provide with a unique perspective that brings clarity on someone,. Keirsey offers an integrated system of solutions for most important people opportunities and challenges. It has four types of service which include: artisan, rational, guardian and idealist. Artisan has quick thinking and dynamic, confident, outgoing, often the first to take action, adaptable, can persuade others to see the points of view. They are great storytellers.

Rational people has great strategists, can view problem from multiple perspectives and will bring well though-out arguments, independent, and strong-willed. Guardian is a loyal person with great respect to authority, natural supervisor with their passion and talent for monitoring. Guardian are great planners who will always build in contingency. Creative and passionate, idealist can move mountains when moved by a meaningful purpose. They are emphatic people with great with communication skill.

When programme was held such as robotic programme, each group of students will consist of different percentage of Keirsey personality types to make sure that the group balanced in team work. Before they know type of personality of themselves, they will answer the questionnaire to know what type of themselves.

BOOTH #22 ( COOLVERTER IT’S CONVERTER, IT’S COOL!)

Coolverter is a learning tool to learn clearly the skill of converting units of lengths. This tool is designed by Mohd Hafizi Haris Fadzillah, Dr Norulhuda Ismail and also Dr Sharifah Osman. This tool is invented to assist students master the skill of converting units of length. Converting units of length is a important task of studying Mathematics because it is the basic of learning the subject Mathematics. Students usually learn this skill since they were in the primary school. By using this converter, students can identify the operation used to convert the units of length, then understand thoroughly the conversion on units of length, including the position and direction of decimal places.

This innovation is designed to avoid the error that will occur when students undergo the conversion and to show clearly the process required in converting units of length. It is also developed for the use of teaching and learning. Students tend to memorize the procedures

which then leads to misunderstandings in the concept. Teacher have to be creative in order to teach students, so that students have better idea to understand the concept of converting units of length instead of memorizing the concept. When students have better understanding of the concept, they may perform well in their study. So, students can master the skill of converting units of length using this tool, Coolverter, when they involve themselves in self-exploration.

BOOTH #23: (An Online Authentic Learning Environment To Support Knowledge                                       Construction Among Non-Statistics Major Undergraduates.)

Applying authentic learning in online platform can be highly resource intensive and costly to develop. This project is carried out by Lau Ung Hua and Zaidatun Tasir. Online Authentic Learning Environment (OALE) is designed to help students’ knowledge construction in learning inferential statistics among non-statistics major undergraduates. OALE was developed by attending nine critical characteristics of an authentic learning and following five main components of the learning environment which support authentic learning such as Task, Forum&Group, Resources, Assessment and Support.

The objectives of this project are to develop an OALE for learning inferential statistics in Edmodo, compare the mean scores of students using OALE and sutdents not using OALE and investigate students’ perception on OALE.

TRENDS IN NALI

Digital technology improves rapidly from time to time, students should be adapt themselves in this world of fast changing technology and information overload. Education 4.0 is the kind of trends in New Academia Learning Innovation(NALI).

Education 4.0 can be said as a combination of education and technology. Therefore, students

need to know how to self-learning by using the technology and also the internet rather than the teacher providing the knowledge and life-long learning becoming norm nowadays.

We know that nobody are identical, it also means that everyone has different learning mode and speed. Through this Education 4.0, this problem may be overcame since there are many online classrooms provided. One of the example online classrooms is Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). MOOCs are free online courses for everyone to take part. It can be said that this new education system is more flexible compared to the classic mode of education which teacher as the main source of knowledge. Now, teachers become mentor or as a guide of their students.

Students can learn what they like and also the extra knowledge from the online classrooms. Students can always do their revision through the teaching video or authentic learning system.

REFLECTION

Chua:   “ We used to learn knowledge through the school system which teacher asmour important source of knowledge. In the New Academia LearningInnovation(NALI) programme, we can see that many participants have their own creative idea in order to change the classic mode of education system. This way will stimulate the study mood of students by using video or   providing an authentic learning environment, so they will not get bored while they are learning. They also have a chance to learn other subjects they want via online classrooms. Through visiting this programme, I believe that education combines with technology will improve the skills of students and students can learn more themselves through this education system. ”

Hazim: “ After visiting the ClickMe booth, the innovative product such as ClickMe are futuristic and it should be applied to the university learning system. As it can be access without the Intenet connection, it easy for the students and the instructors to do the work and task. Beside, the moderm can bring anywhere hence it can be used anytime and anywhere. Such an innovative work.

Hafsya: “What I got from the exhibition was every personality are different from other and it can affect the outcome based on the work or task given. If the person personality are rational people, he or she are suitable for solving multiple problems as they are the strategist one compare to other personality.

CONCLUSION

NALI programmes is one alternative for students and lecturers to improve the skill of teaching in education. Most of the booths shows the achievement from the technologies that applied such as booth 19 talk about personality types. Its shows that teamwork is important to get successful in each team. The succcessful is come from the different types of personality. Then NALI programmes shows that education here is same level with developed countries. The technology education applied in class helps the lecturers more focus towards their student because it take short time to manage. When the lecturers applied the innovation of NALI, the student will not boring where they will become active in class and they also be friend with their classmate.
