Hari Kebudayaan (HAKE'23): Embracing Cultural Diversity through Traditional Games and Cultural Exhibitions
Hari Kebudayaan (HAKE'23) was a captivating cultural program aimed at celebrating diversity and promoting cross-cultural understanding. This mini report highlights the two slots of the event, the challenges faced as the program director, and the impact of the program in fostering cultural appreciation and unity.
First Slot: Traditional Games
The first slot of HAKE'23 focused on showcasing traditional games from various cultures, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in interactive and nostalgic experiences while preserving cultural heritage. Under the careful planning and direction of the program crew, the first slot featured a range of traditional games, including Baling Selipar, Congkak, Galah Panjang, Ketinting, Batu Seremban, and Batik Painting. These games represented diverse cultural backgrounds, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the traditions and customs of different communities. As the program director, I faced several challenges during the planning and execution of the traditional games slot. These challenges included sourcing authentic traditional game materials, ensuring clear instructions and rules for participants, and coordinating the logistics of the event. Additionally, creating an inclusive and engaging atmosphere for participants of different races and backgrounds was a priority. The first slot of traditional games at HAKE'23 successfully created an interactive and nostalgic experience for the 50 participants who joined from diverse racial backgrounds. By engaging in these traditional games, participants were able to appreciate the cultural significance and uniqueness of each game. The event fostered a sense of unity and celebration of shared traditions, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
Second Slot: Cultural Booth and Fashion Show
The second slot of HAKE'23 aimed to showcase cultural diversity through a combination of a fashion show and cultural booths. It provided a platform for international students and local clubs to share their cultures with the wider community. The program commenced with a captivating fashion show featuring 20 participants representing 11 different cultures from various countries. The fashion show served as a visual spectacle, showcasing traditional attire and highlighting the beauty and richness of diverse cultures. Following the fashion show, international students and the local club, Persatuan Anak Terengganu (PERMATA), set up cultural booths where they exhibited artifacts, traditional clothing, and culinary delights, providing visitors with an immersive cultural experience. The countries involve include Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Iraq and Yemen. As the program director, I faced challenges in coordinating the fashion show, ensuring cultural authenticity, and managing the logistics of the cultural booths. Communication and coordination with international students and local clubs were key in overcoming these challenges and ensuring a successful event. The second slot of HAKE'23 created a vibrant and immersive cultural experience for both participants and visitors. The fashion show showcased the diversity of cultures represented, breaking down cultural barriers and fostering appreciation and respect. The cultural booths allowed participants to engage with different cultures firsthand, promoting cross-cultural understanding and dialogue. The event served as a catalyst for cultural exchange, enabling participants and visitors to embrace and celebrate the richness of global diversity.
Hari Kebudayaan (HAKE'23) successfully celebrated cultural diversity through its two slots of traditional games and cultural exhibitions. As the program director, I faced challenges in planning and executing the event, but the hard work and dedication of the program crew ensured a memorable and impactful experience for participants and visitors alike. HAKE'23 served as a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural traditions, promoting unity, and fostering appreciation for the diverse cultures that make up our global community.
