Event Description
The event is about "Flexibility Provision by Residential Prosumers: a Scalable Privacy Preserving Distributed Parallel Optimization" by: Professor Pierluigi Siano. He is Editor for the Power & Energy Society Section of IEEE Access, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL INFORMATICS, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS, and Open Journal of the IEEE IES, IET Smart Grid and IET Renewable Power Generation. Power system evaluation, procurement of flexibility resources in the Ancillary services market, day ahead and real time problems, etc. were discussed throughout the event. It ended up with a question and answer session.

Justification For Participation
This event on Flexibility Provision By Residential Prosumers was an online event organized by Faculty of Engineering, UTM Johor Bahru during the pandemic era through Facebook Live. Upon seeing the poster and information on this event, I had realized that this would be a good way to gain more knowledge about Electrical power and energy as the speaker himself came from a career background on this topic which encouraged me to join this activity.
Self- Reflection:
I have attended the event "Flexibility Provision by Residential Prosumers: a Scalable Privacy Preserving Distributed Parallel Optimization". I saw the event poster in an academic group and it caught my eyes. So basically, modern power systems are evolving from a centralized paradigm, according to which electrical energy was mainly generated by large power plants at the transmission level, to a new a decentralized, layered- decomposition optimization model. Procurement of Flexibility Resources in the Ancillary Services Market in this new model, the provision of ancillary services to the Transmission System Operator (TO) should take into account the possible flexibility furnished by new distributed resources, such as dispersed and small generators, also based on RES, and frequently endowed with small batterics. I also got to know about Distributed parallelized LP based algorithm- a new distributed optimization method based on Linear Programming (LP) is designed that overcomes previous methods based on integer and Quadratic programming (QP). It is scalable allowing to deal with hundreds of thousands prosumers in real time. In short, I was really glad to have taken part in this activity because it has taught me many valuable lessons and has contributed to my growth and gained a lot of knowledge in this field.
