Self-Reflection:
Service learning in the form of the Youth Development course was a valuable experience for me. I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Mohd Rashid Bin Abd Rahup as an assistant secretary and assist in organizing an event in Benut in week 5. The hands-on experience I gained through this course helped me better understand the material we were learning in class and apply it to real-world situations. Additionally, being able to contribute to a community event was a rewarding experience that I am grateful for. Overall, I believe that service learning is a valuable approach to education and I am glad to have had the chance to participate in it through this course.
Reflecting on the event day, I am proud of the role I played as part of the technical team. I was in charge of the setup and it was a great feeling to see everything come together smoothly. The event was a success and it was an honor to be a part of it. It was a great opportunity to put my skills and knowledge to the test and see them come to life. The event ended at 5 p.m. and I felt a sense of accomplishment. The event was a great learning experience for me, it allowed me to grow and develop my technical skills. It also helped me understand the importance of teamwork, communication, and attention to detail in organizing successful events. The event was a great opportunity to apply what I have learned in class and practice and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. I believe that this experience will be valuable in my future endeavors.
Reflecting on my experience, as an international student in the Youth Development course, I have realized that one of the challenges I faced was communicating with my classmates and lecturer who spoke and conversed in native Malay. As someone who is not fluent in the language, it was difficult for me to fully participate in class discussions and group projects.
However, with the help and support of my classmates and especially my lecturer, I was able to overcome this hurdle. They were patient with me and made sure to explain things in a way that I could understand. They also encouraged me to speak up and practice my language skills in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
I am grateful for their help and support, it allowed me to fully participate in the course and gain a better understanding of the material. This experience has taught me the importance of asking for help and being open to learning from others. It also showed me the benefits of being part of a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Overall, this was a valuable experience that helped me grow and develop both academically and personally.
