As the director of the First Year Experience program for the academic year 2022/2023, overseeing the planned activities for the event was an enlightening experience. The tentative program we designed aimed to provide new students with a comprehensive introduction to the association, academic aspects, and essential skills for their academic journey. On the first day, the registration and orientation session allowed me to witness the students' enthusiasm and eagerness to engage with the program. The team successfully executed the planned activities, including the introductory sessions with PEHARTA and LADS, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie among the participants. The second day's agenda, with insightful talks and workshops, provided valuable insights into the academic framework and support systems at UTM. The engagement with distinguished speakers imparted essential knowledge on graduates' attributes, academic advising, and study skills. Witnessing the active participation and genuine interest from the students was truly gratifying. Overall, the program's success was a testament to the collaborative effort put forth by the team and the enthusiastic engagement of the students. It reinforced the importance of well-structured orientation programs in aiding students' smooth transition into university life. Moving forward, I am inspired to enhance and refine future programs, ensuring they continue to be impactful and beneficial for the students' academic and personal growth.
