1) Mini Report
JUSTIFICATION IN JOINING THE ACTIVITIES
SUSKOM was a sport events that has been conducted annually for the students at School of Computing and had been organized by PERSAKA. In this prestige event, each of the course from School of Computing had to send at least one representative for each game which will be held. Thus, due to this reason together with the fact that SUSKOM had been an important event for the School of Computing, it somehow had influenced me to help my course, Software Engineering with the code of SECJ, to achieve success in one of the games held in the event. Having to compete with other several courses in the School of Computing had boost up my competitive feelings as me, myself is a person who love sports. Thus, I had challenged myself to participate in the Explorace & Sukaneka game to compete with the other students in solving the riddles and quizzes given in the activity.
THE GRADUATE ATTRIBUTES THAT ARE FOCUSED ON
- Communication Skills
- In order to finish the activities given to my team, me and my teammates have to constantly communicate with each other while doing the task given at each checkpoint. This has helped us to develop our communication skills as we need to make sure that each of us understand what their part and role is in each activity.
- Thinking Skills
- SUSKOM’20 Explorace has developed my thinking skills as this game consists of high-level thinking riddles and quizzes. Thus, my teammates and I must enhance our thinking skills to ensure each task can be solved in a minimum duration of time.
- Leadership and Teamworking Skills
- The activities and tasks that have been given at each checkpoint has helped me to enhance and improved my leadership and teamworking skills. This is because, at each checkpoint, different types and activities have been given to the participants. Thus, me and my teammates have taken the initiative to become the leader at the activities which we capable of by giving each other motivation and support. Not only that, each activities also helped my to develop my teamworking skills as I need to work with my teammates to complete the tasks and activities given at each checkpoint.
- Adaptability
- As each checkpoint has different types of activities, I also managed to improved adaptability while participating in the explorace. Some of the activities required critical thinking skills, some were about humor sense and riddles, some needs our consistency and focus, some challenged our trust to each other while some also required our stamina and energy. Thus, to ensure each of the checkpoints are successfully completed, I had to constantly adapt to all different types of activities.
CONTENT OF THE ACTIVITIES
Explorace & Sukaneka SUSKOM’20 is held around the area of School of Computing and KTDI on 7th March 2020. Each team consists of five persons. Before the explorace begins, all teams must be arrived at N28A, School of Computing by 10.00. Each team then are given their own checkpoints that must be accomplished and fulfilled before heading to the final destination to record their duration in completing all the tasks and activities at each checkpoint. There were about 5 to 6 checkpoints that each team must go. Each checkpoint offered different types of tasks and activities for the team to solve in order to gain points and thus move to the next location. Failed to fulfil the requirements given in each checkpoint lead to loss of points. After completed all the checkpoints, my team has officially ended the explorace game around 1p.m..
2) Self Reflection
Throughout this event, I was able to get a lot of new knowledge and skills which is essential for me as an undergraduate student. The activities provided in the event had helped me to further strengthen my skills in terms of the student’s graduate attributes. Firstly, I was able to improve my communication skills after having to communicate well among my team members while doing the explorace. Not only that, my thinking skills also have been tested and thus developed to a higher level as I had to face several types of riddles and quizzes in the event. The event had also helped me to enhance and improve my leadership and teamworking skills as I got the opportunity to lead as well as to plan a strategic strategy to complete all the activities at each checkpoint. Lastly, as a student, I had also to develop my adaptability in facing challenges as the activities provided in the event consisted of different styles and types.
Thus, it can be seen that the activities provided in the event have a lot of advantages to the students. I am able to learn the importance of communication, teamwork, leadership, adaptability and many other important graduate attributes which are essential for a students to have. However, I had also face several challenges while participating in the event. As the explorace was consisted of several type of activities for each checkpoint, it really challenged my focus and understanding. Thus, for each checkpoint, before executing the required activites, I would make sure to really understand the content and information regarding the tasks which must be done. Next, at the beginning stage of the explorace, I also had some worries towards the activities that need to be completed at each checkpoint as I was quite an introvert person. Hence, I was able to overcome this challenge by trying to enjoying the activites given at each checkpoint with my teammates and creating good memories with them. Lastly, I was also faced difficulties in understanding the information given regarding each activities at each checkpoint as I am a slow learner person. thus, if I failed to understand what I needed to do, I would ask my teammates to explain it back to me before executing the activity.
All of all, I am really grateful to have participated in SUSKOM’20 event as I managed to gain a lot of valuable lessons which I can use in the future.
