REFLECTION (4IR Past, Present, Future)

The talk Industrial Revolution 4.0: Past, Present, Future was scheduled on the 24th of November. The speaker for the talk was Redzuan Shah Bin Yussoff, Director of Southern Strategic Economic Region, Telekom Malaysia.  We attended the talk as a part of our Technology and Information Systems course. We have learned in short about all the industrial revolutions leading up to the 4th Industrial Revolution which was the main focus of the talk. We discovered how modern industries, technologies and jobs are being effected by 4IR where all technology is becoming smarter and is being connected with the internet such as Smart Home technology and Smart cars Mr. Redzuan explained that 5G has the potential to reach 10 gigabits per second speeds, something truly remarkable, so it will surely be of interest to businesses across all industries and sectors and will greatly aid the IR4.0. Business are starting to demand and incorporate smart technologies into their system even though they can’t fully comprehend the system. Mr. Redzuan explained how IR4.0 has been adopted in education. He said that most Malaysian education institutions are still implementing IR3.0. Mr. Redzuan explained how IR4.0 is slowly changing commerce and that younger generation X and Y are fast adapting to it. The future of IR4.0 includes AI, VR, Mobile Payments, Drones, 3D printing and so on. Mr. Redzuan talked about the jobs of the future such as 3D printing technician. Mr. Redzuan then ended the talk by answering all the questions students had the highlight being he explained that the implementation of 5G must be slightly difficult as 5G requires fiber connections. I believe all the information that we got from the talk is important and is something I have to consider for my future and for a better understanding of my future career.
