Reflection for Technology and Information System
This course SECP1513-03 Technology and Information System has been a constant joy to study. From the very first class our lecturer Dr. Johanna Binti Ahmad has been very responsive and interactive and has tried to make the lessons interactive and interesting. She has made us take part in class activities in teams to improve our team working skills and also to enable us to get a deeper understanding of the lesson.
This course is a first-year course and its main intention is giving students general ideas on may important topics and subjects in computer science. Such as Information Systems, System Analysis and Design, Databases etc. Having Ideas on these topics is vital for computer science students. I myself am a second-year student and I have already taken the courses Database, System Analysis and Design and so on. When taking those courses, having some basic information about them from before would have served me very well and helped me dive into those courses instantly. This is what the course Technology and Information System aims to do. The course I feel has been designed to provide a strong foundation for computer science and specifically software engineering students. The course has had a lot of group assignments which has helped to improve teamworking skills and has helped to get a better grasp on some of the topics. The assignment on PC assembly really made open up my CPU chassis and look at all the components. The course has also had a lot of Industrial Talks which were hosted by our honorable lecturers. These talks I believe have coved some very valuable topics and have provided useful information.
So, the course TIS has given me some very useful insight which will help me throughout my academic life and my profession life. It has also given me some fond memories which I will cherish.

Design Thinking Report
Reflection Design Thinking Project
The reason I have taken Software Engineering as my major is because I fell in love with the Idea of being able to create something that people will be using at a regular basis. As a young boy games and applications really fascinated me and I wished to create something similar. Now I am slowly learning the skills to be able to do just that. I want to eventually go into Web Development and work on developing web based applications.
While developing any sort of program or application it is necessary to plan each and every step. This is where design thinking comes in. It is important to get requirements from users so that the application is able to meet both user and market demands. This is the empathize step. Then the problem and solution must be defined to identify the main focus. Then the idea must be brainstormed to come up with the features and finally a prototype must be made which can then be tested with the actual users of the program. This will help to identify any major flaws before developing the actual system and increase the chance of the project succeeding.
In order to improve my potential in the industry I must try to develop more and more projects and slowly enter the market. I have to working on projects with a group to improve my team working and communication skills. I also need to start going about developing my projects in a systemic and planned way.
Reflection for Industrial Talk 1. (IR4.0: Past, Present, Future)
REFLECTION (4IR Past, Present, Future)
The talk Industrial Revolution 4.0: Past, Present, Future was scheduled on the 24th of November. The speaker for the talk was Redzuan Shah Bin Yussoff, Director of Southern Strategic Economic Region, Telekom Malaysia. We attended the talk as a part of our Technology and Information Systems course. We have learned in short about all the industrial revolutions leading up to the 4th Industrial Revolution which was the main focus of the talk. We discovered how modern industries, technologies and jobs are being effected by 4IR where all technology is becoming smarter and is being connected with the internet such as Smart Home technology and Smart cars Mr. Redzuan explained that 5G has the potential to reach 10 gigabits per second speeds, something truly remarkable, so it will surely be of interest to businesses across all industries and sectors and will greatly aid the IR4.0. Business are starting to demand and incorporate smart technologies into their system even though they can’t fully comprehend the system. Mr. Redzuan explained how IR4.0 has been adopted in education. He said that most Malaysian education institutions are still implementing IR3.0. Mr. Redzuan explained how IR4.0 is slowly changing commerce and that younger generation X and Y are fast adapting to it. The future of IR4.0 includes AI, VR, Mobile Payments, Drones, 3D printing and so on. Mr. Redzuan talked about the jobs of the future such as 3D printing technician. Mr. Redzuan then ended the talk by answering all the questions students had the highlight being he explained that the implementation of 5G must be slightly difficult as 5G requires fiber connections. I believe all the information that we got from the talk is important and is something I have to consider for my future and for a better understanding of my future career.
Reflection Talk 2 (The Importance and Trending of IT Project Management)
On the 1st of December the talk “The Importance and Trending of IT Project Management” was held as a part of our Technology and Information Systems course. The speaker was Mr Mohd Khairul Reeza Ruslan, Head of Project Management Office Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd.
In this talk he spoke about the meticulous process of planning and then implementing a project. The steps he emphasized on were: starting up, initiation, execution, monitoring and control and finally closing. The highlight of this that I learned is, the steps have to be put into a timeline to help manage the project. We learned about the qualities and skills a project manager should have. A project has to be flexible, so a project manager has to be flexible as well. A project manager has to be able to make decisions and changes as required using his better judgement in order to make the project successful. I learned that in order to make sound decisions maintaining emotional quality is crucial. When emotions take control and you start to take things personally, you will be unable to think logically and objectively and will translate to an unsuccessful project. Mr. Khairul mentioned that future project managers will have to be able to use data analytics softwares and artificial intelligence to make project decisions, something we should take note.
I believe that project management is a crucial aspect to consider for projects of all sizes, even personal projects. Planning the stages of development and making a timeline to check progress is very important when trying to meet a deadline. So, I really must keep n mind everything I have learned from this talk. I am grateful to Mr Mohd Khairul Reeza Ruslan for providing me this knowledge.

Reflection Industrial Talk 3
Strengths and weaknesses of the talk:
The talk that was held on the 29th I feel had a lot of strengths and very little weaknesses. It provided valuable insight on some very important queries most students have. The alumni all spoke very clearly and talk went extremely well. I feel that many of the questions I had were answered. They alumni frankly shared their experiences and tried to motivate us. They were quite successful at inspiring.
However, if there was something I absolutely had to criticize and call a weakness I would say that the fourth alumni being unable to attend the talk was a loss of some valuable information. If he attended the talk, we would have been able to get more knowledge and learn more.
Insight the talk provided:
The talk provided valuable insight on a topic that is a blur for many students- what to do after graduation? How to enter the job market? What sort of skills does it take to land a job related to one’s field? Our respected alumni gave their best effort to show us what sort of things we have to keep in mind and what to expect by sharing their own stories and experiences.
Motivation:
The alumni were student just like us. The effort they provided and their resolution to grasp firmly any opportunity they get brought them towards success. This is truly inspiring. They have all tried to do the best they can. Their approach to things is something we should all adapt.
Information obtained:
I learned that I need to go to a lot of competitions and try to obtain professional skills slowly. I need to undertake a lot more personal projects and start freelancing projects in order to better gain the technical skills. I also have to try to seize any opportunity I get no matter how big or small. Another information I obtained was that the time for internships is a very serious time as internships can really set a track for success or even land you jobs if the company is impressed with you.
