This semester, I am doing my final year project 1, which is about removal of heavy metals from wastewater by using ion exchange resin in packed bed column. This project is very important to me because it is the first step in the way to achieve my career dream which is having my own recycling company. These figures shows theĀ  schematic diagram of ion-exchange columns.

ABSTRACT:

Removal of Copper (II) and Cadmium (II) from wastewater will be investigated. The experimental investigation will be conducted by using ion exchange resin AMBERLITE 200 in fixed bed column system. The experiments will evaluate the effect of essential parameters such as bed height (3-5cm), initial concentration (5-20 mg/l), and flow rate (15-25 ml/min). Before running the column experiment, batch experiment will be carried out to find the optimum pH value of solution. To obtain the adsorption efficiency for the removal process of Cu (II) and Cd (II), the breakthrough will be constructed. In addition, the measurement of the effectiveness of the ion exchange resin to remove copper and cadmium ions from the synthetic wastewater will be done by calculating the distribution coefficient.
