Graduates Attributes

  • Leadership and teamworking skills
  • Decision making

Position/Role

In Sport-on I acted as committee member for making the event. As committee I responsible as controlling and create challenge on one of the sports exist including notes all the scores and verify participants if they reached our challenge.

Mini Report

Sport-On was a new event organized by the International Student Society – Indonesia (ISS-Indonesia) where there are many activities sport such as basketball, marathon, and futsal. Sport-On created because the pandemic situation that makes us stay at home for several month and cannot doing offline teaching. This event was attended by Indonesian student from their home with any equipment they have.

By taking part of this event. I able to develop certain skills that might increase my value. The first thing I noticed is working team how we communicate with our members to decide what the best plan we chose to make our event goes well. I try to control my selfish and manage all timeline. I also develop my leadership skill through managing and organizing marathon participants. This could help me to build my awareness of what situation could happened in the case like this. Thus, with collaboration and communication with my crew members we can gain more participants although it takes 3 weeks for the challenge.

Self-Reflection

During approximately 3-4 months of preparing and working as a team I have got a lot of experiences. Through this event I can develop certain skill especially on leadership and teamworking. From that I increase my potential skill. As held event committee i tried to manage by notes all the rules and all the participants who participates, the one that I took handle wad marathon, which provided for male and female within range of 5 to 10 meters. Thus, I understand who to create an event from the scratch and how decision making is important to make any steps.

In addition, I also learned how to coordinate with may crew members and all divisions including head of divisions and also high committee. By communicate with the as transparent as possible. Thus, how we encounter the challenges, and the problems occur during our event. Joining this committee members benefits to myself from developing skill, namely that I was able to make rules, terms and condition, final report and expand relations.

The challenge occurs when prepare the event, because we have to work as team for the whole parties involved and scheduling the event also making proposal. I found difficulty to manage points participants because some were having issues because of pandemic.

The end the event was successfully held, and all the winners got price and medals. We wrap up with the closing ceremony from the head of committee

Bussiness idea in group

this was me and my groups gave an idea for bussiness. we came up with a kitchen tools combine in one this which was kitchen board where it has second board, scale, and knife sharpener.

Reflection of STEM PROGRAM AT SK TAMAN DAYA

So me and my group were planning to go to school for our project in GSA with Dr.Marilina, at 16th November 2019 at 10 o’clock in the morning, we met at k9 because the bus is there and we are heading to sekolah kebangsaan taman daya. It is elementary school. So my group have already making a several groups, and the job is to make a game for kids and they will get a reward for them if they can finish the game. My group made 7 groups for our class mate.

first group are making popsicle stick catapult so basically they set  up the range so children, the task is to launch a sheet of paper that already rolled into ball and throw it to a can. The second group are making balloon power car, the car is made of cardboard and balloon is for car to move forward depends on what side they put the lead of the balloon. The third group are making cup flyer so they stick 2 bottom side of a cup, and tie 4 rubber bans, the game is to roll twice or 3 times the rubber bans onto the center of the 2 cups, and then hold the end of the rubber bans, and release the roll in the cups.

Fourth group are making paper helicopter, I think this is the unique game I ever seen because they only using paper and 1 paperclip, first you have to make vertical cut about 3cm, and then fold twice vertical, after that the paper that doesn’t folded, you have to make straight line in the center and then cut it, bend the paper that you cut like a  propeller, to make it heavy put in the paper clip into the paper that you already folded. And just throw it to the sky and it will fall like a helicopter. The five group were making  paper airplane, because the children are not interested to this, so I came up with an idea to change the game, I made a flip cup but the goals is to flip it into a straw, after group 5 and me changed it, children are excited. The six group are making tissue parachute, so start with the make 4 holes of the edge of the tissue, to make it strong, duck tape all the edges, and tie a wire into the hole and tie a piece of cardboard for make it heavier. The last group are group 7, they make pyramid cup and the goals is to make it fall with a rubber ban, after that they have to build the pyramid by using a rubber ban that already tie with 4 wires. if they achive one game, they will get one candy from us

I not part of all groups because me, reironald, nana, chee, yong, Eileen, alisha and cho are the crew, we make this project by the helped of our lecture Dr. marlina that provide access to the school. Our captain of the crew is hasry, but unfortunately he cannot came because he had to run for championship in UTM JB. Fyi, harsy won the championship and got a gold plate.

Not just our stage, in that school they have mini zoo, library bus, hunted house and many other. They also have foods and drinks for sell, but you haw to change our money into a ticket so when you want to buy something, you just give the ticket to seller. Its fun and educated because we can interact with children and be passion because the kids you too active.

At 2 o’clock we finished it and we taking several pictures for documentary and clean all tables, after that we wait for the bus to taking us home. Luckly Sunday we haven’t morning class so we can sleep until 11 am.

Issues of higher education

HIGHER EDUCATION ISSUES

Higher education is important because it is crucial for many countries to develop education in their countries. Higher education itself are any types of education given after high school or in university. I’m focusing about higher education in Asia because currently im taking my bachelor degree in Malaysia which is in Asia.

Higher education has many benefits especially for youth. These are benefits of higher education:

  1. Dash preparation

Young people can increase their ideas and gain their skill, training and knowledge to enter a new world of job Moreover its good for their resume so they can have a job easily.

  1. Personal growth
  • Better communication

Many higher education provide better writing and speaking assignment to trains students to make them expert in communication so they can attract more people

  • Critical thinking skill

This is crucial because the more youth can develop these skills, the more they can lead their future companies for better performance. These are a couple of advantages to take higher education.

The effect of study abroad to reach higher education

Several countries provide higher education for their student to improve their skills but some of them hasn’t, so student decide to take higher education in abroad. however for example Malaysia was one of the top countries sending its own students to study abroad about 20% and its cost Malaysia an estimated $800 million USD, almost 12% current account deficit.

There are couples of loss such as they learn new cultures, its good but maybe their own cultures will be gone, another reasons that might consider is for the chance to experience different styles of education, but as long as student can keep their on cultures and everything its good for themselves to have an experience to study abroad.

Microsoft Asia and IDC released specific to the education sector, they called it Artificial Intelligence (AI), this will help double the rate of innovation improvement for higher education. With student outcomes being a key performance metric for higher education, many are turning to leverage data to glean insights and drive improved outcomes.

“For many institutional, student performance has a direct impact on rankings, AI can be a tool to help better manage outcomes and ensure continued innovation to optimize operation and enhance student engagements, as it reduces resource intensive work among faculty and administrative staff” said Larry Nelson, Regional General Manager- Education, Microsoft Asia.

Artificial Intelligence has been tested, AI stand to experience the biggest jump in higher finding, higher than most industry sectors in Asia Pacific Artificial Intelligence helps countries to increase performance of education. Therefore, several countries are trying to develop AI to make better education, moreover student can stay in their countries and study as same as other nation that adapt AI.

System education

There are types of education that apply in different countries. For example in Malaysia fresh graduate student have to take pre-university, so they should have to takes subjects that they want before they take university, so they don’t get shocked by the university because they haven’t know the subject that they will faced. Indonesia, fresh graduates student can either continue their education to university or they can take diploma, moreover subject in university is different in high school so they rather take continue their education direct to university instead of having diploma first however they should learn more about the subjects that they take so that they can understand what the subjects mean. Same as Malaysia, firs-year student in Russia should take some kind of pre-u so they could focusing and more knowledge so makes better performance in next steps of education, yet student are old to take university rather that direct to university but it depends on their government.

Higher education in some countries

In Malaysia, higher education sector is responsible for the operation of higher education institution (HEIs) in Malaysia and is under the jurisdiction of the ministry of higher education (HOME). The education sector has always enjoyed the highest national development budget which symbolizes the commitment of the Malaysian government towards education.

The quality of higher education is assured through the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) which undertakes the implementation of the Malaysian qualification framework. MQA is also responsible for quality assurance and the accreditation of course and the related functions, covering both public and private higher education institutions.

In Indonesia, government has been focused on revamping its higher education sector in recent years to keep pace with global competition from neighbours such as Malaysia and Thailand. The strategy serves two purposes, first is to provide a better level of education for its owm youthful population and second is to lure more international students to study in the country.

Future challenges

Despite the many positive trends in the field of higher education in asia, there are many serious challenges to overcome. It could be a mistake for Asian government to continue on a stable course of expansion and huge investments in the higher education wheel without paying attention to the changing education landscape.

The first challenge is government have to face with the result of massification of higher education. For instant China is struggling to find jobs for huge number of university graduates and Indonesia facing the same problem, several students that took bachelor or master in Indonesia struggling to find job, some companies willing to accept new workers by look at their university or perhaps top university in Indonesia. However, others accept new employees from every background.

The second challenge is one that is faced by all university, the impact of latest technology such as massive open online course. In Indonesia online courses are very common because many of startup company is making online course from elementary school to university such as www.ruangguru.com and www.sangjuara.com. So that student can increase their knowledge so they can take over all of the subjects.

The role of development partners in supporting higher education

Partnership with other countries is a good move to developing higher education in many countries such as UTM Johor Bahru has been partnership with any university around the world for many years such as Oxford, Cambridge, University Indonesia and many others.

Higher education for the future

Higher education undoubtedly supports aims that are briader than the development of human capital for supporting economic growth. However, at this time in Asia, for understandable reasons, economic growth is increasingly dominating deliberation on higher education development. As the rapid economic progress in the region has been accompanied by widening inequalities, the need to support inclusive development increasingly influences national and regional higher education development agendas. In addition there must be a significant change on education system in the world that’s why higher education should exist in all countries.

Higher education can help tackle inequalities

Creating Asian countries have made significant progress in raising enrollment rate in basic and secondary education. Yet, the low quality and completion rates at these levels continue to be a concern, especially with regard to readiness for higher learning among secondary education graduates, at the same time, the demand increasing for expanding opportunities and pathways for higher learning in the region to support Human Resource Development (HRD) and innovation for knowledge and technology.

Providing higher education opportunities for marginalized and excluded groups is not only necessary for establishing a broad human resource base for advancing inclusive economic growth but also for achieving other equally important development goals in societies and the region as a whole. Asia makes a strong case for shifting the higher education development agenda from the direct perspective of access to widening participation and pursuing inclusive higher education.

Issues for developing higher education

Higher education is a problem for several countries. They need to maintain their money to other needs like foods, drinks and many more. And if they take standard education, they should gain more effort to get better university or they might be go to private univ which more expensive that national university. However, some institution give scholarship to student that have high score in all subject or they have to attend test in order to get scholarship, in Indonesia if students can memorize all surah in al-quran they can go to any faculty in UI (University Indonesia).

Conclusion

To sum up, higher education is important to all countries around the world, using AI and all methods that applies in each nation. Higher education is important because makes students increase their knowledge so it is easy to them to get a job or find a job for their future. There a lot of ways to gain their knowledge to have better performance, like online course.

To have relation with other university is a good move to attract student, they can exchange in semester 6 maybe to any university that they want, however it has to have partnership with the university. Although in different countries has different policy for education, it’s accepted in any countries not by looking to someone age.

A lot of challenges coming when higher education apply. Like huge number of students that has graduates but struggle with find a job also many online courses exist around the world so competition its more difficult for student in lower standard of education. Providing higher education good for developing countries because if people get higher education, it would be much more opportunities for them to get a job so country has more human resource innovation for knowledge and technology. However, there are problems with providing higher education. not all of parents can pay the bill for their university, because they have to think to survive in their life not only in education, like living cost.

in my opinion, higher education is totally important and affect to all of people that want to learn more and more. Not just that, higher education can make the world better because people now know what is wrong and what is right and all of that is because higher education that provided by government.

Reflection of scholarship skills

On 2nd October 2019, we are having the second attended for GSA with Dr Marilina Ali at 2 o’clock on Wednesday, Dr Marlina was little bit late almost half an hour. We learnt about scholarship skills. According to the definition of the Portland State University, a person with scholarship skill is a good researcher, a good writer, a good reviewer and a good presenter. This skills focus on information management skill and lifelong learning skills. Information management is involves a process of collecting and managing information from one or more sources and distributing of that information to one or more receivers this is according to Wikipedia. scholarship skill we will gain a knowledge about information management skill and lifelong learning skill. There are four component that have in scholarship skill which are an ability to seek and manage relevant information from a variety resource, ability to receptive to a new idea or autonomous learning, ability to develop an inquisitive mind and ability to use systematic research methodology. Scholarship skill is qualities, attributes and abilities a scholar must possess to be a good researcher, writer, reviewer and presenter. Information management skill are the ability to collect, manage and distribute the information to one or more receivers.

We also learnt about plagiarism, the lecture told us that plagiarism is forbidden for us to make any assignment or work that we do, plagiarism itself is an idea, word, image or creative expression of others people and make it as your own . The lecture knows if us do plagiarism or not by using an app that allows the user to see if the assignment that we wrote is plagiarism or not, the app called Turnitin, so the user just simply copy their work to this app any just wait for a couple minutes, Turnitin will determine either it plagiarism or not. The lecture gave us example of using Turnitin. It show us the percentage of plagiarism, that the writer had wrote, not just that, Turnitin provide with under line or highlight the line that match with the website that writer copying. Luckly UTM JB provide this app for student so we don’t have to pay the app, just create an account by using our email that already provided by UTM JB. This help us when ever we what to make an essay for assignment or even thesis, create your own assignment is more appreciate rather than copy paste from google or your friends. At 4 o’clock the class was over and we went back to our dorms because there are no subject more on that day.

Reflection of "rumah yatim"

“rumah yatim” is a house that has kids with no parents. On the 7th of December 2019, at 7.30 am we met at bus stop k9 because the bus has come. I had over sleep so I didn’t go with  the other with bus, I woke up at 8 am and that mean the bus has left  so i went there with dr. Marlina which is our beloved lecture, me and dr are had talked about my country and cuisine, not just that we talked about what will happen in “rumah yatim ”. we went there and all of my friends have started and having fun with them. We separated in to several groups with different ages some of them are in 4 years old and some of them are 14 years above. Mostly some of our friends were committee on this event so they are focusing on 14 years old and they were making bracelet and for the kids were playing puzzle such as picture of each of us that we cut it into different shape and puzzle that has alphabet with various colors and with different animals like turtle. Moreover, they are provided with picture without colors, they have to put some colors on it and after all finished we provided them with stick and stick it with pic’s.

Our friends were making sandwich with eggs and mayo also with cucumber then give it to the kids and us. they are all enjoyed. The house provided us with drink which is orange juice in ice so it makes us feel happy.

After we had launch, we were having photo session with the kids and all members including our lecture.

all of us are happy to make them happy because, I guess they seldom to have this happiness and interact with other people. Some of them are exiting to interact with us, some of them are shy to talk with us. They all from different background because not just kids who hasn’t have parents but also homeless kids are in that house too. So they never had an experience like this. Aldo before us there are also people like us who come or visit this house and make them happy.

After we had photo session we gather inside for announcement because we have a gift for the best bracelet, we have 3 gift which mean we have 3 winner. I forget the name but the first place goes to kids who made bracelet with words father and mother. We have clothes and foodstuffs for the such as rice, bottle. Furthermore, we gave them money, books, pens and all school equipment.

Then we closed with taking pictures with all of us again. We finished at 2 pm, but unfortunately the bus driver is gone for pray, so we wait him for almost 2 hours. And we arrived at 4 pm at bus stop k9 and we all went back to our room.

Reflection of employability

On the 25thSeptember 2019, at 2 o’clock we are having the first class of our subject It was class of Graduate Success Attribute (UHMT1012) at lecture hall 1 with Dr Marlina Ali from faculty of social science and humanities . The first thing that we learn was about Employability and also soft skill, employability is  the skills and abilities that allow fresh graduate from university to be employed and easy to get hired. Having an extra skills is important to get easy to be hired because not just you who want the same job that you want, the biggest reasons why fresh graduate don’t get hired is because they making a deal for salaries is unrealistic like student who get hired for the first time want to get more money so they want to paid more. Its hard for company for raise their money because maybe the CEO or the manager doesn’t know much about your performance in their company and poor English language is the second reasons why company don’t hire fresh student, because some of company have relation with foreign company. However student who have leadership can easily get hired because  company needs employees to lead or make a significant result so the company not wasting their money to others who hasn’t have this skills.

In the class we made a partner to discuss what is employability skill for us, and my team came up with the employability is skills that fresh student should have to make an easy way to them to be hired, after that the lecture asked a question for individual, the question was is employability is similar to soft skill. My answer to that question was basically I think that soft skill is in the employability  skills but maybe that need for working in a company to work as individual or as a  group such as communication skill, teamwork,  problem solving, self-management and other things to make fresh graduate is different to others so they will get hired.

Lecture gave us a percentage about lack of soft skills fresh graduate from local university, it shown that 81% are the communication skills, employee who has this skill would be the first who get hired by the company as I said because English is the international language so employee that can use English as their language is better. The second was the critical skills, because  some company often faced a problem that should be solve fast to prevent other problems exist.

In this subject we will learn a few skill which are communication skill, thinking skill, scholarship. Leadership,  team working skill and many others. Communication skill are not only focus on how good we communicate with other people but it also the ability to convey ideas in writing clearly, effectively and comprehensible, to deliver ideas orally clearly, effective and comprehensible manner and also the ability to listen actively and respond accordingly. After we know a few things about it the lecture gave us several question regarding the sub the we had learned that day. So we made a group with 2 people and we had to login to the web which is quizz. In that website we are given with 10 question that was about lecture name, the employability, soft skill and other things, if we got all correct or the highest score among our friends, the lecture will give extra mark or point. Reveka who got the highest score for that quiz, so she and her partner got extra mark. At 4 pm the class was over and the lecture told us to make reflection for our meeting at least 2 pages and will be submitted in the e-learning and after we went to the our kolej.
