SC DISCUSSION ON CO-CURRICULUM DAY AND PERSAKA EXHIBITION "Activity"

this activity was conducted via the college to explain and clarify the new system of merits points and how we can collect the merit points. The presenter viewed all the procedures regarding registering in the activities and how the merit points are counted. the presenter also clarify to the students the importance of this new system and why it was implemented since there were a lot of objections and arguing among the students regarding the merit system.

The presenter was very helpful, she gave us the chance to ask all the questions regarding the new system and she gave us a clear answer for our questions, unfortunately, this system was not implemented as it was presented to us due to un-predictable circumstances, which was the Covid-19 pandemic.

STAY MOTIVATED, STAY PRODUCTIVE DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC "Activity"

the activity was conducted on 12/05/2020 during the MCO and it was conducted online, in that time it's has been fours months since the pandemic has started, in this activity the presenter talked about what kind of problems we might face and how to stay motivated and productive especially that all study was via the internet, the present was confirming how we can use this opportunity to learn new skills during the MCO and how these skills can benefit us later on after we graduate and how this pandemic is a big chance to learn and develop new skills.

It was very beneficial because it opened my eye to a lot of opportunities during this pandemic.

ADVANCED INFORMATION SEARCHING SKILLS Activity

The activity was conducted on 05/04/2021, it was related to the English communication skills 2, In this activity, the presenter spoke about how we can improve on searching skills as well as how we can use some famous website such as google scholar to find any kind of papers, the presenter also talked and taught us how to use the UTM library effectively as well as how we can use the tools within the UTM library website to search for papers or books we need.

The activity was interesting and beneficial for us especially in English communication skills 2, we had to write an argument paper, it was very helpful in terms of how we can find the resources for our arguments in less time and effort than what we used.

PSDA project 2

Infogragh.png

What was the project about ?!?!

In this project, we were asked to study and analyze databases using the R language, as we have to test our hypotheses on a database that we choose. The topic that I chose was about the suicide problem in Japan, as it's illustrated in the info-graph, more than 800 hundred thousand suicided case was recorded from the 80s till 2015, which is a very scary number. The main purpose of my study is to understand the nature of the suicide problem in Japan, whereas I tried to test if there is a relationship between the GDP per capita and the suicide rates. In my study, I conducted 7 hypothesis statistical tests in order to a clear overview of the suicide nature in Japan.

My reflection and how this project helped me...

The idea of the project where we had to find a topic and then search for a database to test our claims and our theories is very interesting, since this the first time for me where I can prove my theories in a scientific way. where I can have evidences based on the statistic data for my claims. Overall the project gave me a simple view about how the huge statistic researches are made. The project also, opened a new programing field for me especially in the future where I will deal with the databases as a programmer, I learned the tools that are used for the statistical tests like (R language), as well as how I can analyze the databases and construct useful information from them.

PSDA project 1

Online resources VS. traditional resources, that was our topic name. The purpose of the topic was to find out what the most preferred methods used among the UTM students, and why they prefer one upon the other or do they use both methods. We collected over 128 instances in our survey that contained more than 20 questions, some of them were about participants' information (Gender, Nationality ...etc) and another part of the questions was focusing on our main study.

To summarize our results:

first, most of the students prefer both to use both online and traditional resources to study, but there is a number that cannot be ignored 33% of the instances prefer only online resources. We asked them about the reasons that make the students use the online resource and the majority agreed that because of two reasons, lack of lecturers explanations as well as the get extra information.

the second thing was that 45% of students are enrolled in online courses so the usage of the online resources was linked with getting extra information, and for the students who are enrolled only 13 of students pay for the courses.

check our project video to get more detail about our study:

my reflection about the project:

No doubt that every new thing we try in our life, can either benefit has or the opposite. This project particularly benefits me a lot in many fields, First thing that the learned is how the surveys are done I mean here what is behind the scenes, for a long time when I used to see statistics surveys on the internet I was know how they collect the data, analyzed it and how they build their conclusions on the data.

I learned the fundamentals of making a survey, starting from finding the problem or the idea and how can this survey benefit us, how to collect the data and the methods used for that and what are the problems that you might face, for instance, in our project at the beginning when we published our google form survey we couldn't get enough of instances so we had to make a Prize draw as a way to make people to participate. Another thing I  learned is how to find the best way to represent them and summarize them graphically, and how to choose suitable charts so that the normal reader can understand the data. I also examine the tools that used to analyze hundred of data like R language which helped me a lot in building a clear view about the data analyzing world, and how can data analysts deal with the information of thousands or even millions of the data in efficient ways as well as in short period.

Speaking about teamwork, since this project was done in a group I had to mention what I learned and what are the mistakes I did, starting from how to divide and coordinate work among the group members, and how you should be patient with your teammates, since not the all members have the same abilities to work or to do the tasks.

in the end, I can say statistics generally have played an important role in many sciences and life field, learning this world or at least having a view on this world can benefit me in (direct way or indirect way), maybe someday I will use what I learned from this project to make my own study, which will be in the second project that we had to make it alone now I know how to choose my study, how to find the data I need, which tools I might use, how to present the data graphically as well as how to build my conclusions on my study goal.

GRADUATE SUCCESS ATTRIBUTES (GSA)

this subject was one of the benefits subjects for me especially.

we learned in this subject a lot of things, that create from you a successful student.

we learn about the daily life skills, the body language, how to treat the people, the leadership as well as the teamwork.

here are some projects  I did it with my team

we filmed a short movie talk about the student attributes.

you can see the video and the rest of project  in the GSA page here

Malaysian Studies

9k=

in this subject, we learned a lot of things about Malaysian culture and society.
we made a lot of trips and reports in this subject and we tried a lot of new things.

we tried the traditional Malaysian food, as well the traditional Malaysian attire.

we went to Night markets in KL.

in the attached files, you will find my reflections as well my reports.

Malaysian Language

malay-language-words.png

Malaysian language subject was one of the interesting subjects  I had in UTM.
in this subject, I learned the basic language rules, how to greet people, how to count, the colors and much more.
what makes the Malaysian language easy for me, that it is too easy to pronouns and it doesn't have a lot of grammars like Arabic or English.

from the first day, I was able to read a full sentence without facing any problem.

in this subject also we made a short movie in Malay, you can watch it here.

Discrete Structure

1200px-6n-graf.svg.png

Discrete Structure is one of the courses that I took in my first semester in UTM.
It teaches you how to think logically, but isn't it ??
for me, this subject is one of the difficult subjects why?
basically, because there is no sense in this subject, no specific formulas to follow as we used in High school or in the other subjects.
Discrete Structure has many applications in real life that you can't count them as well it has huge benefits for computer science students because it's the base of computer science.
