Throughout this program, I have gained many experiences and soft skills which help us for better adapting in this fast-changing world. i have gained leadership skills when I am leading our group members in particular task that I am good at. I learned how to build teams, resolve conflicts and create the desired culture. I also learned how to work in a team and appreciate the value of joining forces to accomplish our same goal. I understand how important it is to work in partnership with others instead of working alone.

I also understand that communication skills are very important in our lives, may it be verbal communication or nonverbal communication. I learned how to speak clearly to deliver our message precisely to both my group members and the users. I also realized that projecting the positive body language and facial expressions are very important, too.

During the discussion, I have gained the ability to build and maintain relationships, be tolerant, develop rapport and use diplomacy. While conducting interviews, I also learned how to accept constructive criticism, be respectful regarding opinions of others and empathize with them.

Reflection on Industrial Talk 2 - NALI 2018

From our visit to NALI 2018, I gained some insights on how our education industry begin to improve by involving digital platform in our educational system. As we shift towards the modernization, automation and online platform for nearly all aspects of our lives such as business, communication and economy, it is only natural to take the same step further for our education industry.

It is really an unforgettable experience from what I initially thought to be a regular industrial visit. It turns up to become an information-filled event that makes each of the members of our group that started with zero knowledge about the on-going trend of our education industry to become intrigued by the innovations behind it.

All the participants of NALI 2018 are really friendly and helpful to deepen our understanding the specifics and details of their projects. We gain knowledge about the implementation of digital education and how it will complement with its physical counterparts. We hope that this event motivates each one of us to become hard working in our current studies and hopefully able to contribute to the education industry and conceivably to join the future NALI Symposium.

Reflection on Industrial Talk 3 - IOT

After the talk and exhibitions, I was amazed by how the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology can promote the intelligent level of the whole industry, may it be the manufacturing industry, logistic industry, information industry, business industry and so many more.

The implementation of technology in industry especially Artificial Intelligence has extended the life of assets, improved safety and reduced costs. Many of us might worry that AI will eliminate and cut down workforce. However, it does not. It actually gives an opportunity for the industry to expand and create more job opportunities such as data scientists to support the system.

As what Mr Shaiful has said, as students, we are the future assets of the industry. We must know what can we contribute to this industry and must get ourselves well-prepared within our study times. Mr Shaiful’s encouragement has motivated me to work harder to adapt myself in this latest Industry 4.0.

Reflection on Industrial Visit 1 - CICT

As a networking and security students, I'm not only dealing with software and programs, but also computer hardware.
I need to know how a computer operate, from understanding of hardware and software, operating system to programming. Directly, it will affect my prospects towards my future career as most of us dream to become network security engineers, networking support specialist and etcetera.

In this visit to CICT, I get to know how CICT provide services to all UTM staffs and students. We can see how the computer and its ecosystem evolved and improved to be better like today. It was truly a fruitful and memorable experience for us especially as Computer Security and Network students.

From virtual software to real visible hardware, examples shown in CICT give us more pictures and ideas about how a real system works. We have got the chance to know more on how to develop and maintain an organised system or network to handle such a large amount of end-users.

As we can see from CICT, computer systems and information technologies change from time to time. Hence, I must always improve my hard skills by attending training to keep it up to date so that I will not be eliminated by time.

Reflection on Industrial Talk 1 - GLOW

After listening to the talk, I am motivated and impressed by the concept of crowd sourcing and freelance working. Global well-known entrepreneurs such as Jeff Bezos (founder of Amazon), Jack Ma (co-founder of Alibaba.com), Mark Zuckerberg (co-founder of Facebook), Garrett Camp (co-founder of UBER) and Brian Chesky (co-founder of Airbnb) have well-used the crowd sourcing platform and make such a great transformation of digital economy. They are such a great inspiration for all of us especially for those who are about to kick start their freelancing career.

Furthermore, I get to know that being a freelancer not only allows me to work flexibly, it also motivates me to sharpen my hard skills and keep it up to date to be a competitive freelancer in global platform. As a student, I can also generate extra income whenever I’m free to reduce parents’ burden. It is also a great chance for me to get myself involved in global
platform to widen my vision before I graduate and step into the real society. Working as a freelancer will also sharpen my soft skills including communication skill, problem solving skill, strong work ethic, time management ability and others as I might need to deal with clients from other country and at the same time to take care of my study.

In a nutshell, I strongly agree that GLOW is really a good platform for all of us, especially for non- experienced freelancers as they give training and guidance from basic to advance. From joining this program, it gives us an alternative way to make a living as well as make contribution to our country’s economy.
