I significantly benefited from attending the "Checkmate: Uni Life & Employment" session. It provided beneficial advice on how to succeed in both university and the workplace. I'm amazed at the impact Wong Qin Tong and Adam Fahmi insights have had on my academic journey and career aspirations following their presentations. Wong talked about the skills employers look for, making me think about my own skills and how they match up. She stressed the importance of soft skills, like communication, alongside good grades. Wong's advice from her internships motivated me to actively look for hands-on experiences to complement what I learn in class.
Adam highlighted how important it is to have a social life in university, emphasizing the value of networking. This made me realize that connecting with classmates, teachers, and professionals is key to building a supportive community beyond just academics. To sum it up, the seminar was a great motivator for me. The practical advice from Wong and Adam will guide me as I go through university and start my career.
