LOW KAI TSEN's Reflection

Reflection For TITAS

TITAS

The study of Islamic and early civilization!

To be honest, this is one the courses I dreaded before entering to university. As we all know TITAS is a compulsory subject for all Malaysian attending university. My impression of the subject is that it is very similar to history and there are so many things to read.

My current lecturer is Dr Kamaruz. I give him kudos as he was able to make the class more relaxing than I expected as his constant teasing on some our classmates is just XD.

In the words of Dr Kamaruz

Bunga Selasih Telah Melayu

Terima Kasih Thank You

Reflection For Malaysian Dynamic

Malaysian Dynamic

I was very skeptical about this class to be honest. Because in my brain I thought isn't TITAS already enough? But, to my surprise my lecturer Dr Atie Awang made the class memorable and very light hearted. I never really felt stress attending her classes.

I love her lecture style as it shows she's confident and know what she is talking about. She never reads from the books and always tells stories which I think is definitely a more suitable way to convey the message for Malaysian Dynamic lecture which at times can be a pretty dull subject.

Reflection For French 1

French 1

Now this is subject I truly truly enjoyed. I always wanted to learn a foreign language and it was always one of my goals to take up a foreign language in university. It was always going to be either Thai or some European language. But, they only offered Mandarin, French and Japanese in UTM. So I opted for French!

Professor Nirmala's lectures were very easy going and relaxing. Her teaching speed might be a little fast but who can blame her as our contact is only 2 hours a week plus we have a very extensive syllabus we have to cover. She is genuinely concern about her students and you can tell that she is very passionate when talking about French culture.

I really hope to take French 2 in my 3rd semester as for my 2nd semester I am already packed in terms of credit hours and co-curricular activities.

Reflection For Programming Technique 1

Programming Technique 1

To be really honest, I have really nothing much to say about programming technique 1. Before I enter uni, I really knew nothing about programming or coding as the cool kids would say. But, after attending one semester of classes...

Come and see me personally if you would like to know my opinion XD

Reflection for Discrete Structure

Discrete Structure

After coming to university, I learned to accept that you can never escape from the clutches of mathematics. I never really excelled in mathematics but I can proudly say that I enjoyed my discrete structure lesson.

My discrete structure course was taught by Dr Noorfa and in my opinion she is a brilliant lecturer. The way she teaches is easy to understand and if I could do the whole thing again I wished I would have been able to attend her class when she was teaching chapter 2 on relation and function. As missing that chapter was my biggest mistake and most likely would have cost me my entire test 1 results.

Reflection For Digital Logic

Digital Logic

My first impression on digital logic was oh my god I still have to study physics in the end. But, surprisingly under the teaching of Dr Ismail Fauzi I grow to love digital logic more and more. Of course, doing the digital circuits using the breadboard can be frustrating at times. But, I still thoroughly enjoyed the lesson.

The lecturer is friendly and provide guidance when asked and he finished the syllabus earlier by a few weeks. To me this really speaks volume as he is really concern about his student academics and he is a very responsible lecturer by ensuring his course has been taught finish before going to Germany for holiday.

Reflection For TIS

Technology & Information System

This is my reflection and thoughts on the subject Technology & Information System (TIS).

I first came to know about this subject when we were registering for courses. After reading through the academic handbook. From what I understand at the time is that this courses provides a general outlook on IT and provides a basic for students who do not possess any IT knowledge prior studying this course.

Under the 2U2I program, whereby for our course we will be studying for 2 years and and working for 2 years. Our TIS lectures were done slightly differently compared to others. I felt as though ours was packed with slightly more practical experiences. To name a few events that we attended included a visit to Magic at Cyberjaya, a visit to HILTI at Ara Damansara, attending a public lecture involving business intelligence.

Our lessons are mainly done using a method known as active learning where the students are involved in presentations and report writing post event. For my group, we did presentations on topics such as Basic Application Software and Information Systems. I think it was a good initiative for the lecturer to choose active learning as the method of learning but to be really honest I didn't think it was really effective. As there were students still pushing away their responsibilities and not seizing the opportunity to improve their presentation skills, public speaking skills and most importantly boosting their confidence. Viewing at the aspect of reports, I do understand our lecturers frustrations. As intellectuals and university students plagiarism is a major no-no in my books. But, still there are students who still do this act without giving proper citation.

After this first semester, I now have a better grasp on IT and I believe in the long run this is beneficial. There were many ups and down while studying and finishing assignments for TIS. Such as, planning meetings with group members when all of our time schedules are busy. Having to pick up slack and motivate some  team members when some members did not want to do their job. But, despite all that has happen I do believe it was an interesting journey studying Technology & Information System with my fellow course mates.

I would like to take this opportunity to also thank my lecturer Dr Aryati Bakri, my fellow team mates and of course all of my course mates for all of their help, kindness and guidance given. <3
