Tempat: Online

Jawatan yang disandang: Participant
In my first year as a student, our Principal of Marketing lecturer, Dr. Mazilah, encouraged her students to join an e-poster competition with the theme of national current issues. The competition was held from December 1st until December 31st, 2020.
The theme of the competition was so broad that the students were given the chance to explore various issues and creativity to develop the poster. At that time, I choose the theme of health and COVID-19 since it was a recent and alarming issue. I used the platform Canva to make the poster. The concept of the poster was simple and has the purpose of reminding people to practice social distancing, use masks, and sanitize regularly to break the chain of COVID-19.
I was not confident with my ability in making a poster since I don’t have any experience in editing or making graphic designs. However, the encouragement from Dr. Mazilah made me try to challenge myself and submitted my poster to the competition. Even though I did not win the competition, the experience was very valuable and since then I learned to develop my skills in terms of graphic design.

Maklumat Ringkas Program: Sharing session and discussion between ISS Indonesia and HMD Fisika UI

A comparative study is a program held by the International Student Society - Indonesia in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (ISS - Indonesia in UTM) with the purpose of sharing knowledge, programs held by each organization, and discussing potential collaboration in the future. By conducting this program, the board members of each organization are expected to share their perspectives and experience in managing a program or the organization itself.
This program was held on 20th May 2022 at 7.30 Malaysian time via Zoom Cloud meeting. There are about 60 people that participated from ISS - Indonesia and more than 100 people from HMD Fisika UI. HMD Fisika UI stands for Himpunan Mahasiswa Departemen Fisika Universitas Teknologi Malaysia (Association of Students in Physic Department at the University of Indonesia). The program was prepared three months ahead and the committee held multiple meetings to discuss the relevancy of both organizations to make sure there is the knowledge that is transferable and can improve both parties.
In this program, I was the vice director of the committee. I was the head bureau of public relations and the person in charge that manage the program with a partner from the same department in ISS Indonesia. I managed to contact and convince the president of HMD Fisika UI to do a comparative study and arranged the program with the help of my partners and the support from other board members in ISS Indonesia.
I learned how to pitch a program to other parties and higher-ups in organizations when I was preparing for this program. It encourages me to learn and practice my interpersonal and persuasive skills while learning how to manage a project via the online platform. The program was a success and receive good feedback from the participants.
The title “Youth Development” was what attracted me the most in choosing the subject
for my co-curriculum. As a part of youth, I am interested in knowing more about the youth and
how to develop the youth to make a better generation for our world. I was preparing myself for
lots of materials and webinars to attend when I applied for this course. I never thought that I
would be one of the committee to make a webinar (that changed to be a sharing session at the
end of the program) to enlighten the youth and people in general.
Since the webinar was canceled, we decided to conduct the Drawasaurus as an individual
program. But then it was changed, the Drawasaurus will be a part of the closing ceremony of
Healthy Mind, Healthy You! We even chose the MC from our group for the closing ceremony. It
was until on 23th January, we were informed that the speaker that was supposed to fill the
webinar can spare his time and decided to have a sharing session in the closing ceremony. The
closing ceremony was supposed to be on 25th January. So we only have one night to prepare for
the Drawasaurus program that will be conducted on 24th January. We voted and made a fast
decision in the WhatsApp group and finally conducted the Drawasaurus on 24th January at night.
It was very challenging and there were a lot of obstacles in handling the Drawasaurus
program. However, I am thankful that my group is quite cooperative and if they are given a task,
they can finish it well. It was a very interesting experience for me. I got to know new friends and work with new
people with different backgrounds and perspectives. The course also taught me about the
importance of taking the lead and making decisions in the team work environment. Also the
importance of communication outside the team such as to the high committee and the lecturer to
minimize the chance of miscommunication.

The second semester of my university experience as a student in the Management of Technology course is still conducted online. At the end of the semester break the situation was getting better so there are some hopes of having hybrid offline classes. But unfortunately, the situation suddenly changed and the Covid 19 cases are getting worse so many offline classes were canceled.
Personally, I have no problem with online classes. I am able to follow the lectures well and finish my assignments quite well too despite the limitations caused by the pandemic. There are some courses that I am struggling with this semester but fortunately I can handle it quite well by putting more effort in these courses.
I am using the online platforms as well as I could to help my studies. I also communicate with my classmates and lecturers if I face any difficulties during the course. Despite the hardships I face this semester, I am putting great effort for each course and for the final exam also. I am expecting the best result for this semester.

The webinar “Information Technology Security in Business” was conducted with the initiatives of Dr. Nazmona as the lecturer for Information Technology in Business course (SBSD 1063). The speaker of this webinar was Mr Syamsul Faizal Ahim the Account Director, Education Cisco Systems (M) Sdn Bhd.
Mr. Syamsul explains the background of Cisco Sdn Bhd. He also explained that in Malaysia, Cisco cooperated with many institutions including universities such as UTM. Before the pandemic, people that use online conferencing platforms such as Cisco were not common, but due to the pandemic the use of online conferencing platforms have increased rapidly.
There are a lot of multimedias that Mr. Syamsul shows while sharing his knowledge. He shared not only powerpoint slides, but also pictures and videos. The online conferencing platforms are very popular in the pandemic because people are advised to not meet in-person. As a company that runs in the technology field, there are a few threats for Cisco such as hacker and malware infections.
To help improve the Information Technology Security for a company, the company should have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Virtual Private Network, Cloud-Edge Security, Advanced Endpoint Security, and Secure web collaboration tools. The company could also beware of the malware infections that could come from anywhere, have backup for critical systems, training their employees of attack/phishing simulation, and improve their technology including architectural approach for end to end security, endpoint detection and response, and malware detection solution.
For conclusion, Mr. Syamsul emphasized that good cyber security will be costly but bad security will cost more. It was a great session and I have a lot of new insights of information technology security. This webinar has made me know the importance of cyber security especially for business. We often want to save our budget by cutting things we thought unnecessary but information technology is not one of them.

Online exam was not something new for me. The Covid 19 pandemic started in early 2020, it was the time when I was supposed to take the last exam that is called “Ujian Sekolah” in order to graduate from high school. I also took some university entrance exams in Indonesia using online platforms.
The final exam was conducted early in the morning. I need to prepare myself and my surroundings to make sure the environment is conducive for me to take an exam. The lecturer that supervised the exam was very helpful but also strict.
Despite the fear of losing the internet connection, I have no problem doing the final exam and am quite satisfied with my answers. I have done my best on my final exams and I am expecting good results.

When I was younger, I always wanted to learn via online classes. I expected online classes to be an interesting experience and I love the flexibility of online classes. Well, the Covid 19 pandemic was not on my bucket list but this pandemic has made me experience the online classes I have always wanted.
There are a lot of people who struggle with online classes. Aside from the technical difficulties, many people prefer offline classes because they are not comfortable to learn in their house, they want to go out to the school/campus, and they do not feel motivated to learn when the classes are done online.
Personally, I am very comfortable with online classes because I am the type of person who does not like to move a lot and online classes has made me have a lot of free time that I can use to do other things that I wanted to even though there are limitations because of the Covid 19 pandemic.
As an introverted person, I can try to motivate myself while learning via online classes. I have almost no big problem while experiencing online classes for one semester. But I do feel disappointed that I could not (yet) experience the offline classes and go to the campus. There are a lot of facilities that I could not use also when I am learning via online classes. Considering the tuition fee, especially as an international student, I am waiting for the day that I can finally experience learning in foreign country.

The business simulation game MonsoonSIM is a really interesting and fun game. The game makes me feel like I am doing a real business with my team. At first, I thought MonsoonSIM is pretty complicated and I am not sure I can do well. But thanks to Dr. Mazilah and Dr. Shah I can understand the basic step of the business simulation and make some profits in the first try.
Two out of five members of my team are having some problem so they cannot join the game. We are having a Whatsapp call and have our discussion there to solve the problem but until the end of the game only three of us are doing the game while the other two are in charge of giving opinions and support. Personally, I think my team members does not understand the game quite well so we are having some difficulties in expanding the business. Our opinion differs at some point.
My brain splits into many pieces while doing the game, I was managing the Bangkok branch, keeping eye on other branches, communicating with my team members and hearing the commentary from Webex. Because of this I made a mistake of buying stocks into wrong branch so it causes an overflow of our business. It was challenging and fun, though.
I have not made a lot of research about MonsoonSIM so I cannot give many suggestions for the game but I just found out that they have a YouTube channel and a competition too. I think a written tutorial or video tutorial will help a first-timers since there are lots of things to do in this business simulation game.
The randomness of system is something that I have learned in Principles of Marketing. In my opinion, the system randomness of sales is related to consumer behavior. Consumer preferences is always changing and has wide coverage. We can predict but it is not always right. This game also emphasizes on demand and supply. In microeconomics, demand and supply is something that always came out on almost every chapter. Supply and demand show how a company should do in order to not go bankrupt and maximize its profit with the lowest expenses.
MonsoonSIM is a really fun way to learn about managing a business. From the experience of playing this business simulation game, I can try to apply all of the theories I have learned about business so far. MonsoonSIM teach me how to manage a business, doing calculation of a business, aware of other competitors and when marketing is needed. I have learned a lot today and I hope I can do better if I am given another opportunity.
