MOHAMAD AIZAD BIN MOHD MOKHTAR's profile picture

Aizad Mokhtar is a final year Bachelor of Chemical Process Engineering from MJIIT, UTM KL. He is now undergoing an industrial training at one of KLK Oleo’s subsidiary companies which is KL-Kepong Oleomas located at Pulau Indah Industrial Park as Process & Technology Trainee. He is majoring in chemical engineering with minoring in environmental studies/engineering with current CGPA of 3.72.

Apart from his studies, he was also highly involved with extra curricular activities with the highest achievement as the President of Chemical Process Engineering Society 2019/2020. He’s known for his good supervision, organised and managed numerous event/programs related to leadership, community engagement and entrepreneurship. For instance, he was the director for the industrial visit to Yakult Malaysia factory located in Seremban. He also started the initiative to organised the UTM KL Career Fair 2019 that was 100% organised by students.

During his semester break, he voluntarily to work as a trainee at Catfills Malaysia twice. He became the administration and marketing trainee that involved with creating contents for social media, product catalogue and served as customers service help desk

Department/unit: Process and Technology

Principal activity of company: Oleochemical Manufacturing

My scope of work:

  1. Data analytics for glycerin plant in-process and quality monitoring via Microsoft Power BI by producing dashboard report.
  2. Glycerin plant by-product (glycerin pitch) utilization to biomass application by selecting and analyzing suitable mixing components.
  3. Glycerin plant effluent waste water to Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) for producing harden sludge cake by applying hydrated lime as chemical hardening.
  4. Harden sludge cake drying via Carbonator plant to ease in schedule waste management, time saving and increase operation efficiency.
  5. HAZOP study for waste gas upgradation from Fatty Alcohol Plant to existing steam boiler as alternative gas combustion to reduce cost in using natural gas.

Industrial Training Reflection (5) - HAZOP study for waste gas to boiler

This task helps me in understanding chemical plant processing and provide me with logical thinking skills in determining and assessing risk and hazard in the particular nodes. This knowledge is very useful especially in my final year as I need to perform a chemical process design and conducting a HAZOP study for my design.

Industrial Training Reflection (4) - Harden Sludge Cake Drying Via Carbonator

Carbonator is a mini plant that dried sludge cake to reduce manpower in waste management. This task helps me in understanding environmental scope especially regarding schedule waste management and operating mini plant individually by knowing carbonator start-up and shutdown procedure.

I learned that scheduled waste management is very important in guarding the environment and all employee must take part to ensure no environmental hazard occurs that can cause big problems to the community.

Industrial Training Reflection (3) - Glycerin Plant Effluent Waste Water to WWTP

Main Task 3: Glycerin plant effluent waste water to Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) for producing harden sludge cake by applying hydrated lime as chemical hardening.

From this task, I learned that WWTP plays a vital role in providing services to helps in environmental concerns. I learned a lot about WWTP management and process. I contributed in producing harden sludge cake from this WWTP to ensure less weight and manpower to operates the sludge cake for scheduled waste management. I used hydrated lime and mixed it with slurry sludge and feed into filter press machine to produce harden sludge cake.

Industrial Training Reflection (2) - Glycerin pitch application to biomass

Main Task 2: Glycerin plant by-product (glycerin pitch) utilization to biomass application by selecting and analyzing suitable mixing components.

In this task, I learned how important is scheduled waste management that I learned in Environmental Engineering. I also learned that waste can be turn into usable product that can be sell and provide profit to the company. Glycerin pitch that are usually will be disposed are now change to biomass product (biogas/biofuel). From this task also, I learn that renewable energy can reduce cost by cutting the usage of natural gas and etc.

p/s: I cannot provide biomass sample picture here as it is in the process of patterning.

Industrial Training Reflection (1) - Data Analytic via Microsoft Power BI

Main Task 1: Data analytics for glycerin plant in-process and quality monitoring via Microsoft Power BI by producing dashboard report.

I learned that as fresh graduate, I cannot only depends on my skills in chemical engineering. I need to know what's the industry nowadays need from fresh grads. Data analytic (DA) is the trend now in providing analysis and insight of the company business. I'm glad that I had the experience in using DA tools which is Microsoft Power BI to produce dashboard report that can give quick insight of the chemical plant in-process and quality monitoring. At first, it was very hard to use this tool however, with high determination I succeed in producing several dashboard template. Learning about data analytic through my industrial training really opens up my view in new technology that can ease human in  every ways.

My accomplishment :) RSS

4 more days to go and I will end up my first year term. In the last 2 semester, me as a first year student learn a lot of new things from these precious semesters. New friends, lecturers and surrounding gave me a wonderful days at MJIIT. I still remember my first week here in MJIIT, that awkward moment, shy and do not have any friends. By time to time, I try to find new friends and alhamdulillah, now I know every single one of my course mate. Semester 1 end up really fast and I still feel that I just register here last week and then finals came. CGPA of 3.87 are my first CGPA here at MJIIT and alhamdulillah my first dean's list award. Semester 2 came with harder and tougher subjects. New subject "Japaneses Communication 1" surprise me with a wonderful Japanese lecturer Yukino sensei. This semester really burns me up, as I need to conduct several CHEMPRO activities such as Appleciation Day 2.0 and International Engineering Carnival and Competition (IECC'18). Both of the activities I acted as the director in charge. Tiring but full of good memories. Now semester 2 will end up and I hope the upcoming semester will be more cheerful and unforgettable

PRODUCTION OF PARACETAMOL (UNIT OPERATION)

Dr Nabilah had assign me and my think pair (Amir Awalludin) to search chemical process industry that related to our Chapter 2 (Unit Operation) Mass And Energy Balance. On top of that we agreed to proceed with production of paracetamol as our topic. Below I attach with PDF file of our compile information.

Thermodynamic presentation

Thermodynamic are one of the subject that we need to enrolled for this semester. Our magnificent lecturer Prof Masafumi Goto and Dr. Nabilah Zaini teaches us this subject. We also need to accomplish our mini project assignment. My project had be given the topic of sustainable energy. Prof Goto commend that our project have a good presentation slide and very informative.

Indutrial Visit to Petronas Ammonia Sdn Bhd, Kerteh

IMG-20180408-WA0015.jpg

Activity: Industrial visit to  Petronas Ammonia Sdn Bhd

Venue: Kerteh, Terengganu

Period: 2 days

Student Internal Relations Committee of Chemical Process Engineering Students Society (CHEMPRO) accompanied by Dr. Nabilah as advisor of CHEMPRO had organized an interesting industrial visit to Petronas Ammonia Sdn Bhd, Kerteh, Terengganu. I learn a lot of new things from discovering how to produce ammonia until its storage process. In my opinion, this industrial visit is the new way to learn practically as we also given a chance to had a tour to their plant system and had the opportunity to have Q&A session with professionals engineers that conduct the system.
