Mini Report:
The programme named Carnival Unbocs'22 was held on 20th - 22nd October 2022 at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, UTM Johor Bahru. This programme was organized by UTM Student Council. Basically, it started at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. for 3 days straight. The name of UNBOCS is actually stands for Uniform Bodies, Clubs and Societies. And the theme for this carnival for year 2022 is "Unbox Your Potential". The carnival is the best opportunity for students to get the information about variety of uniform bodies, clubs and societies in UTM, especially for new students that do not have any idea about it along their studies here. So that is why this carnival was held every year in order to help students in choosing and deciding the best 'unbocs' according to their interest respectively. Overall, there were about 60 booths of different types of Uniform Bodies, Clubs and Societies. They were divided into 12 clusters which were culture and art, academic engineering, sports and many more related.
Self-Reflection:
Not going to lie, I do admit that this carnival was really amazing and such a good experience for me since I got a chance to participate it as both volunteer (AJK) and participant at the same time. For the first day of UNBOCS Carnival, I was in charged as one of the volunteers (AJK) for Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam UTM (PMIUTM). I was assigned to be as one of the promoters for the club. Then for the last day, I went there again and joined as a participant.
To be really honest, I gained a lot of benefits such as improvement in term of soft skills especially in communicating. I remembered that first-time-moment when I was tried to approach a few students who were totally strangers to me. At first, I could not even manage my nervous but then I realized it was actually fun and mesmerizing! I learned how to deliver speech in a clear, effective and comprehensible manner. Not only that, I was able to communicate with students from different cultures and backgrounds which was one of the best opportunities I have ever had.
Besides, since I worked in a team during that day of carnival so that I learned how to interact and work effectively with other team members to achieve our main objectives for the clubs. I was also able to act professionally and responsibly in carrying out duties throughout the event. Last but not least, I managed to act ethically in making decisions and interacting with people since there were various kind of situations that I have experienced along the day.
