INTRODUCTION

“ROAD SAFETY DAY” is an event which is organized by GREEN BEAN BOYS to promote road safety. The main objective of this program is to promote road safety to UTM students and staff. From this program, participants can gain much knowledge about road safety and can many services such as motor license renewal and many more. The activities such as a talk about road safety, services booth and food-trucks will be held.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Road accident has become a serious problem in Malaysia for this last decade. Abdul Kareem (2003) stated that the total number of road accidents in Malaysia exceeded 223,000 in 1999 and it still rising to this day. Furthermore research found that road accident ranked as the 11^th leading cause death in the world. Because of that, our group considered to make a proposal for this event in order to increase the young generation awareness about the safety while using road.

OBJECTIVE

Increase awareness about road safety to UTM students and UTM staff. The amount of road accident is increasing over year. We wanted to make students and staff realize about how important road safety to ensure a safe journey.

Provide services related to motor license such as registration and renewing their license. This will ease the student and also the staff that wanted to renew their license because they do not have to go to the nearest JPJ office. This also will ease the process for license registration into driving school.

PARTICIPANT

The main target of the participants will be the UTM students and staffs with is expected to be around 300 participants. UTM students and staffs was our main target in this event because mainly UTM road are mostly used by UTM students and staffs. This is why we decided to choose them as our main targets of the participants that will indirectly reduce the rate of accident occur in UTM.

CONCLUSION

We hope that the participants are able to gain more knowledge about road safety. The experience gained will help them to be more concern about their ‘road safety and regulation. Regarding with that, the committee really hope that this programme can get a well cooperation from all the parties especially from UTM students and staffs can give the positive effects towards the participants. GREEN BEAN BOYS believe that this program will run smoothly as planned and fulfil all the objectives of this programme. Therefore, we pleaded the kind hearted of HAL EHWAL PELAJAR (HEP) to approve this programme for the sake of students.
