Internship refelction
My industrial training at Majlis Perbandaran Kota Bharu Bandar Raya Islam (MPKB) was a valuable and meaningful experience that allowed me to apply my academic knowledge in a real working environment. Throughout the 20-week internship, I was exposed to various IT-related tasks that enhanced both my technical and professional skills.
During my internship, I was involved in business data entry and location mapping, where I assisted in updating and relocating business information in the MPKB system according to the correct administrative sections. This task taught me the importance of data accuracy, especially in government systems that are used for reporting, monitoring, and decision-making. I also gained experience in handling large datasets and understanding how digital systems support municipal operations.
In addition, I participated in network cabling and LAN setup activities. I learned how to create LAN cables using the correct wire color standards (T568A/T568B) and assisted in connecting network devices such as computers and printers. Through this task, I developed a better understanding of basic networking concepts and the importance of proper cabling for stable and reliable network connectivity.
I was also involved in IT support and system assistance, where I helped colleagues troubleshoot printer issues, resolve laptop problems, install software such as Microsoft Word, and assist in creating simple database directories. These tasks improved my troubleshooting skills, increased my confidence in handling technical issues, and strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with users.
One of the main challenges I faced during the internship was my limited technical experience, especially at the beginning. To overcome this, I actively sought guidance from my supervisor, asked questions, and performed self-learning through quick revisions and online references. This approach helped me improve my problem-solving skills and adapt more effectively to the working environment.
Overall, this internship helped me develop important skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and time management. It also provided me with a clearer understanding of professional work culture and responsibilities. The experience has strengthened my interest in the IT field and better prepared me for my future career.
I am grateful to MPKB, my industry supervisor, and my colleagues for their guidance and support throughout my internship. This industrial training experience has been a significant milestone in my personal and professional development
