Analyse Problem
- What are the issues?
The issues are everyone nowadays are searching for a lot of data or information, slower image decoding might cause consume a lot of time. Then, fractal image was store as mathematical formulas, for decode the fractal image, it needs a lot of calculation to complete the decoding.
- What does the literature say about this issue(s)?
Internet usage increase gradually now, cause a lot of information can browse thru online and speed of image decoding are important to increase the productivity and efficiency.
- Who is affected by the issue(s) and what solution will benefit the user(stakeholder)?
This issue has affected everyone especially study and graphic designer, as the time for image decoding longer and cause the lower efficiency. The solution is to create a faster fractal image decoder.
- What is the “best” solution(s)? (your recommendation)
Design a new fractal image decoder with the embedded NIOS II.
- What are the strength and weakness of the “best” solution? (evaluation)
The strength of the solution suggested would be increase the image decoding time. While for the weakness would be required and embedded system.

- State whether the project is from other exiting, hybrids, or gap filling solution?
The project is from existing and hybrid solution based on the literature review from other people’s works.
Week 11:
SWOT Analysis
Strengths:
- What are the advantages of the recommended solution?
The advantage would be providing a faster fractal image decoding process with using Embedded NIOS II.
- What does the solution do better than other methods?
The recommended solution with the use of embedded system to improve the image decoding process.
Weakness:
- How can you improve the method?
It can be improved be trying with different type of decoding.
- What should you avoid?
Avoid the output of the fractal image after decoded will be giving wrong information.
- What are the drawbacks of the method?
This method needed an embedded system.
Opportunities:
- Could this method sustain in year to come?
In my opinion this method could sustain for many years as the image decoding are everyone using in every day.
- Could this method changes with government policy related to the field?
In my opinion this method will not change with government policy.
- Could this method change with lifestyle and populations?
In my opinion this method will not change with lifestyle and population.
Threats:
- What are the obstacles?
The size of the image as the input.
- Are there any similar method/product exist/in the market?
This method is not existed in the market.
- Could the weakness of the method degrade the performance of the system/device?
It should not degrade the performance of the embedded system.
Week 12:
Safety:
- Is the system/model/device design pose any hazards (A hazard is any source of potential damage, harm or adverse health effects on something or someone).
The system will not cause any harm or adverse to someone or something.
- Does the system/model/device comply with government regulation?
The system should be complied with our government regulation.
Environmental:
- Can the product be reused/reduced or recycle?
The product can be reused.
- Can the design reduce energy consumption?
This system will cost very little power consumption just for decoding for the fractal image.
- Will the process of the project contribute to hazardous gas emission/ozone depletion/ resource depletion?
This system will not contribute to any hazardous gas emission/ozone depletion/ resource depletion.
Design solution in global and societal context:
- Is the system/model/design cost effective?
This system design is cost effective as it only required an embedded system.
- How can your design benefit the community?
This design can be beneficial to everyone that need a fractal image decoder as the speed of the decoding higher and improve the efficiency.
