Reporting:

            In the beginning, all the committee members arrive the stadium UTM to do the preparation for the event. After all the committee members arrived stadium, our event organizer has given the briefing about the event flow. Then, everyone has going to respective position to do the final checkup.

            For my part, when the participant arrives, we have served the participant to the respective place to waiting until the time reach 8.30am. At 8.30am, we have start with the lifesaving technique briefing and giving the demo to a CPR dummy. After the speaker demonstrate the correct way to do the CPR, he has invited few participants to have some try to the CPR dummy as shown as Figure 3. Then, during the demonstration from the participant, few committee members and me going to prepare the floating board for the next program which is swimming technique teaching section.

            After the CPR briefing, we invited all the participant to change the swimming suit for the second program. After that, we lead all the participant to the swimming pool and distribute each of then 1 floating board and 1 goggle. Then, I have going to the auditorium room to prepare the amplifier system and projector set up. One of my technical group members and me doing the set up in the auditorium. Then, we have done a rehearsal about the video presenting flow and the closing ceremony emcee was trying to speak her speech before the swimming learning session end.

            After the rehearsal done, we had standby and waiting for the instruction from the event organizer. After 30 minutes pass, the event organizer invites all committee members and participant to have the lunch. Then, my group member took 10 minutes to finish our lunch. After having lunch, we are going back to the auditorium room to continue standby for the video presentation.

            At 2.30pm, all the participants done their lunch and start enter the auditorium. Then, we have started the briefing and start presenting the lifesaving video presentation. After the video presentation finish played, our program emcee had started to give her speech about the purpose of this “SAVER’19 LIFE SAVING & SWIMMING CLINIC” and invite the speaker and the participant representative to award the certificate of this life saving event. At the same time, other group member has finished the cleaning process and start to assemble outside the auditorium room due to the room is not big enough to fit all the committee member.

            Finally, our event organizer invites all the participant and committee member to have the group photo and end the event. Then, my group members and I start to clean auditorium room. After that, all the committee members have assembled and sharing the reflection.

Responding:

            In the morning, all the committee members have assembled too early, I fell that the time planning a bit does not make sense and it is a bit too burden to all committee members and I notice that a lot the members showing they are very tired. Then, we had just doing nothing before the time and the participant reach to the UTM stadium swimming pool.

            Then, I feel a bit impatient to the participant that had late to our event. It causes our event timeline need to change, and our event organizer are hard to give us the instruction as all group are at the difference place and do their respective preparation.

            Then, the participant arrive we lead them to the place but got few of them do not follow our instruction to the respective position it causes the environment was very messy and noisy. I also fell a little bit shy to tell those participants to have a seat in the respective place. 

            During the briefing of the session, some of the participants are not focus and keep making some noise and make me fell upset because the lifesaving knowledge that given are very useful for all the participants.

            In auditorium room, I feel grateful to my group members. They are giving a lot the teamworking in other to complete the setup of the projector and the amplifier connection. Then, we manage to have well communication to our emcee to make our program flow smooth and success.

Relating

            This event reminds me that one of event that I join for volunteering have been done in the subject of UHAS 1172, Malaysian Dynamic. This event purpose is to share love and helping poor people. To complete this event, we had also formed few small groups to complete each task same as in this SAVER’19 LIFE SAVING & SWIMMING CLINIC event that I had distribute to Technique group to in charge in the amplifying and projecting in the end of the event. In the volunteering event, I had been assigned to distribute the food and beverage to the participant that join the event. In both events, I had learnt that the important of the teamwork and the group distribution are very important to complete an event.

Reasoning

            This SAVER’19 LIFE SAVING & SWIMMING CLINIC event was a memorable activity have been involved in my university life. Involved in this event as a committee member is due to the UTM cocurricular required us to have some public service activity so I must involve in this activity. Then, I had a feeling that want to try my best to hold an activity successfully. However, when I the day of the event, I notice that become a committee is not easy and will face some unexpected problem that we need to use our intelligent to solve that kind of problem.

            Throughout this event, I had improved my communication skill and team working. Through this event I notice that communication with group member and team playing are very important to make the event run smooth and successfully.

Reconstructing

            After the event end, all the group leaders had shared their reflection on the event, and I noticed that to complete an event is not easy. We need to do a lot of preparation and during the event flow it will have a lot of unexpected issue face and we need to try our best to solve it.

            Before the event start, we waste a lot of time just for waiting the participant to arrive. I think that we can plan the timeline with more effective and do not waste a lot of time. When the lifesaving briefing is it a bit waste that the speaker was not using the microphone and give the information by shouting due to the place in too big and some of the participant cannot heard clearly. This is because the cable of the speaker is not long enough and cannot reach to the stage.

            In future, I hope that this kind of event can join by more participant to improve public knowledge on the saving skill. This is because we will never know when anyone will have involved in a dangerous situation. Then, the lifesaving still is very important in saving the stranger who in the trouble. I really appreciate UTM have giving the chance to have this kind of event to share our knowledge to the public.
