Excel 01 (Hari Kebudayaan 2023)

This Hari Kebudayaan 2023 was an event organized by Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail. The objective of the event is to unleash students' creativity and showcase the timeless beauty of traditional attire.

Before I participated in this event, I was a photography enthusiast. Therefore, I have done some research on professional photography and Lightroom photo editing. The research includes the photography composition, triangle rules (ISO, exposure, and shutter speed), and photo editing (color correction & adjustment, filter, exposure correction, and others). I have also rented appropriate traditional Han Chinese clothes (Hanfu) from UTM Hanfu Club that was suitable for the event.

During this event, I wore the clothes, and my friend was responsible for taking a photograph. Several locations were selected throughout the photography session which, includes Tasik Desa Bakti, UTM Dusun, and others. The photo-taking session was taken during the golden hour and took almost 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.

After that, I further tuned the photography in Lightroom to have the best effect and uploaded it to the organizer. The organizer announced the contest winner on 10 Jun 2023 at Majlis Penyampaian Hadiah HAKE’23 bersempena Majlis Penutupan OPERA’23. I was one of the winners and won the prize.

Participating in the traditional clothes photo contest was a truly eye-opening experience for me. Not only did it allow me to celebrate different cultures and their stunning attires, but it also had a significant impact on my photography skills. Through this event, I learned to compose captivating shots, experiment with lighting, and bring out the best in my subjects. Moreover, it improved my proficiency in using editing software like Lightroom, enabling me to enhance the beauty of my photos and achieve the desired artistic effects. Overall, this contest was a valuable journey of personal growth and skill development in the world of photography.
