The justification for joining this activity is that Perwakilan Mahasiswa Sarawak (MASSA) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia aim to teach people to learn more about how to thrive and helps others during these difficult times. I have joined this online webinar because I have faced some mental problems during this pandemic time in order to maintain my mental health.

 

The graduate attributes that are focused on this activity were communication skills, adaptability skills, leadership skills and thinking skills. During the webinar, the speakers, Dr Zulfikar bin Ahmad and Mr Kenny Lim taught us how to encounter the stress or sadness that we are facing. We have to always think positively and communicate with others whenever we seek any problems, and this will help us a lot. By learning that, we have learned to improve our communication skills and also thinking skills. Moreover, the adaptability skills also have been mentioned in the webinar which is we need to adapt to what we are facing instead of just trying to escape it.

 

The content of the activities is Dr Zulfikar discussing the mental health that is affecting college students while Mr Kenny taught us how to support and recognise friends who are in emotional distress. After that, there is a quiz session for about 30 minutes with prizes to win.

Self Reflection

The activities in this event have given me impact on the development of my graduate attributes is that my thinking skill and communication skills. This is because I learned to think more positively and always not overthink. I have tried to communicate with the one I trust whenever I faced any problems. My adaptability skill has increased by learning how to adapt to the environment that I am having right now. My leadership skills improved as well as I will always stay alert in recognising my friend having any mental distress symptoms.

 

My self-strength/advantage in the activities is I can easier accept what others trying to tell me or comment on me. This made me look at myself in the mirror whenever any problem arise. Then, I will try to make a change if there’s really a problem with me. The challenge that I have faced in this event is I am the one who also facing mental health illness during this hard time. I have encountered this problem by always communicating with my best friends when I feel stressed and sad.
