Role in The Activity
Mini Report
The justification for joining this activity is that this activity is the UTM library contributes to the enhancement of knowledge through easy access, dissemination and sharing of resources in science, technology and engineering. I joined this talk because my lecturer on my English communication skills, Dr Ali ask us to. He said this is very useful in our university life later.
The graduate attributes that are focused on this activity were scholarship skills, adaptability skills and thinking skills. The UTM Library has provided tons of resources for us to refer to in order to complete our assignment or project. The modules taught by the facilitator, Dr Haliza Zainal are information searching skills and UTM MOOC. This has increased our scholarship skills a lot by learning these. We also learnt how to adapt to the environment of the university which always needs to citate a paper, referencing a study case. We also need to think about how to use the resources correctly from the database.
The content of the activities is the speaker teaching us how to access the database of the UTM online library. After that, the speaker also taught us how to do citations using the EndNote application.
Self Reflection
The activities in this event have given me impact on the development of my graduate attributes is my scholarship skills. My scholarship skills have greatly increased as I learned how to access the database of the UTM library for resources and also citations. My adaptability skill has improved as well as I never always do the citation for every work I did in secondary school, and now I have to cite every resource that I used on the internet in my assignment. In addition, I also increased my thinking skills as I need to choose the right resources for my work in the future.
My self-strength/advantage towards the activities which is my adaptability skills is quite high, and when I approach an application such as EndNote, I’m able to use it very quickly and start using it. The challenge that I have faced in this event is I am attending this event in-home, so whenever I wanted to access the UTM library, it keeps loading and never runs. But luckily, I have managed to access it easily by using a VPN connection to UTM via the easy connection.
