AWS badge

Before watching the AWS module, I had no idea what cloud computing was. It's the first time I've heard of cloud computing. The AWS online course is divided into ten modules, each  module covers a different topic, with the goal of introducing cloud computing and AWS services. I began watching the lesson on December 11th and finished three modules that day. On December 9th, I finished modules 4,5,6. Starting with module 7, the lessons grow more difficult, and it takes me one day to comprehend one module. I received an AWS badge after completing 10 modules on December 26.

The speaker in the course speak very clearly and is understandable. There is also a quiz at the end of every module which test our understanding. The quiz let me know I understand the topic or not. There is also lab to let us practice utilizing AWS service and strengthen our knowledge.

I have a better understanding of cloud computing after watching the first three modules. Cloud computing enables businesses to keep their data over the Internet without having to maintain and build physical servers, resulting in significant cost savings. Starting with module 4, I'm learning about the variety of AWS services available, including security, network, computing, storage, and database. This gives consumers more choice, and they may choose which services they desire. For example, if a customer requires long-term data storage for archive or compliance purposes, Amazon S3 Glacier is an option.

The AWS course is very helpful and let me get better understanding in cloud computing. We applied the cloud computing knowledge in our project by building a cloud architecture. The badge looks very simple and cool with the logo of AWS.

A summary of what you have gained from completing the course (get a badge)

The AWS online course explained the concept of cloud computing and the difference of cloud computing with physical server. I learned about the benefits of cloud computing and how cloud computing works after watching the AWS online course.  I also have a better understanding of the AWS service and the use case. AWS offers a wide range of services and customers can select based on their specific requirements.

Your motivation to complete this project?

Cloud computing is an interesting topic for me; thus, I'm motivated to finish the module. Cloud computing is beneficial and can be used by businesses. I believe that cloud computing will be a trend in the future. I think having the knowledge of cloud computing would be beneficial and can be applied in the future.

Your opinion whether getting the badge is easy or difficult? Which module is the easiest/most difficult?

Module 1 is the simplest, and I finish it in a short period of time. It's only the beginning of cloud computing and is very understandable. Module 5 is the most difficult topic for me. Modules 6,7, and 8 only cover the AWS service. However, in module 5, the network foundation and IP address are discussed.  I have a poor understanding in this aspect. As a result, it takes me longer to comprehend it since I am not familiar with the topic that the speaker discussed.

What’s a badge worth?

The badge is well worth it, and it gives me a competitive edge on my résumé. It demonstrated to the employee that I am familiar with cloud computing. Since I had a limited understanding of cloud computing before this, the badge has boosted my knowledge and skill in cloud computing. The course introduces me to cloud computing and helps me understand how it works.

The badge indeed improves my knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing. The AWS online course provides a clear explanation on cloud computing. The topic covered such as introduction to cloud computing and AWS service also help me to get insight on how cloud computing work.

Your opinion whether every company should shift to Cloud Computing?

Because cloud computing is advantageous, every company should make the switch. Cloud computing reduces a company's expenditures, allowing the company to focus more on the product. The company will not have to maintain the physical server and estimate the server's size. Cloud computing allows you to pay as you go and only pay for what you have used. Cloud computing also maintain the server for you.

Your opinion whether every computer science/UTM student should learn Cloud Computing (get the AWS badge?).

Every computer science student should learn about cloud computing since it is advantageous, and I believe that the number of businesses that implement cloud computing will grow. As a result, cloud computing will become a valuable skill. It also improves our IT knowledge.

Any advice to your friends who have not get the AWS badge yet?

My advice to a friend who has not yet obtained the AWS badge is to get it as soon as possible because it is a worthwhile course that is also completely free. After completing the module, you will have a better grasp of AWS cloud computing.

What is your direction after completing the badge?

After achieving the badge, I intend to learn more about cloud computing, and when I join the company, I will recommend them to use cloud computing. I also will like to have a deeper understanding in cloud computing and explore more on cloud computing.  I'm going to keep working on myself.

Regarding including the AWS badge as part of the SECP1513 subject, I would like to express my gratitude to the lecturer for including the AWS in our course. It is quite advantageous to students. It allowed us to learn a lot of things and is valuable information that everyone should have.
