GIS FOR TNB




   Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is the largest electric company in Malaysia and South East Asia (TNB,2018) .TNB embarked on GIS for Digital Transformation since year 2009: Smart and top utility in the world By 2025. I am very lucky when I have a chance to join talk with IR Hjh Fazilah who are the professional Engineer that working as Electrical Engineer with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for the past 28 years. She has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Plymouth University, UK, Master of Engineering in Electrical Energy and Power Systems from University of Malaya, Malaysia and currently she has just completed her PhD viva on GIS (Management) from UTM, Skudai, Johor Bharu. In her talk , she have share the application of GIS for TNB.


      The GIS involve five main solutions, namely Core GIS Desktop, Thin Web Client, Mobile GIS and mySIGHT. Desktop GIS use to digitize lot of TNB network assets and perform specific electric network analysis or tracing . Mobile GIS is a tool to allow doing site visit verification and maintenance work on site. Lite Editor use web browser for simple search, simple redline and sketching. Smart View is use to visualize and locate TNB assets on Google Map with street view and directions. The example of TNB distribution assets is black box, mini Feedar Pillar, Street light control panel, substitution and H-Pole substitution.  mySIGHT use to add and locate selected TNB assets on Google Map on mobile phone.
