Weekly Progress (week-1)
Road OSM
- Create account for open street map under the username of UTMMapathon_Faheem20
- Registration though google link of GRAB Mapping Party and OSM Username.
- Started with identifying hometown area which is at Kampung Pendek, Kota Bharu.
- Editing name of familiar residential roads throughout the area.
- Getting used to editing and saving the road names at hometown.
Point of interests (POI)
- Started with filing of POIs of local shops and mosques within hometown area.
- Obtain the longitude and latitude through google map.
- Fill in form with details such as address and name of POI.
From the first week of competition, I have learned and getting used to do editing of roads and adding the POI at my hometown. I have improved in terms of speed of doing using the OSM and google forms. However, it is only the beginning of competition. There's still a long journey to go!
Weekly Progress (week-2)
Road OSM
- Currently on ranking 21st of grabgeostar20 competition with a total of 112 edits and 3.4km road distance.
- Did edit of road names at Kampung Gaung, Kampung Kota and Wakaf Che Yeh.
- Sources of road names from own knowledge by familiarity of hometown roads and Bing Map for double confirmation.
- Slowly expanding areas of Kota Bharu for road editings and POI.
- Spends average of 1 hour a day in detail of road editing ensuring the road is digitized and named of true source.
- Will improve more in terms of numbers of changesets on Week 3.
Week 2 still with a slow progress of edited roads. Will try hard by the next two weeks in achieving the target of 1300++ total edits of roads in Kota Bharu in detail. Thank you very much!
Weekly Progress (week-3)
- Jumped from rank 21st to 9th on the leaderboard.
- Focused on road naming in areas of Kota Bharu
- Digitizing of missing roads of rural areas consist of Kota Bharu and Bachok.
- Total edits of 803 as recorded.
- Did an estimation of 15 POI's at Tendong, Pasir Mas on this week.
- Improving progress since week 1.
- Will do my best on the final week on mapping Kelantan.
Weekly Progress (week-4)
It is the final week of Grab Mapathon 2020
- I managed to climb up till rank 7th with total edits of 1522.
- Focused on map digitizing of missing roads in Pasir Putih and Tumpat disctrict.
- Road name inserting with trusted sources from Bing Map
- Happy with the final results and achieved more than target which was only 1300 edits.
It was a splendid event. Good opportunity on contributing for the society on OpenStreetMap. Thank You Dr Hawani and GRAB team for the event!
