Technology and Information System

My goal regarding my course (Computer Science (Graphics and Multimedia Software)) is to develop my own game or mobile application. I have to master the programming techniques and different programming languages. It will be hard for me as I am a computer science newbie, but I will try my best. Besides the academic matters, I also have a compulsory club, Computer Graphics Multimedia Association (CGMA). This club enables the SECVH students to interact and communicate with the seniors and be exposed to the final year project earlier by watching the seniors works. I hope to enjoy my university life with the valuable people around me and achieve flying colours in my Degree.
I watch YouTube tutorial videos to learn more about programming. I only know the C++ language so far, so I will try to learn other languages such as Python, Java and so on in the next few years. Besides, I develop my leadership skills further by being the leader of the group assignment. I want to become more sociable and confident. In addition, I plan to attend competitions or activities related to IT to improve my capability in the industry.
All the assessments in this subject benefit me a lot. The speakers of the industrial talks are from the agencies involved in the technology and information systems industry. I can explore and enhance my understanding of all the technologies applied in the industry and be mentally ready for future jobs. I had learned about cloud computing through AWS Academy, augmented reality, virtual reality, 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and many more that I cannot learn in detail from the classes. This subject mainly strengthens my knowledge and skills in cloud architecture and design through the low fidelity prototypes project.
I completed all the assignments given by my lecturer Dr Naghmeh Niknejad wholeheartedly. I had a hard time leading my group members in doing the group project at first. I asked Dr Naghmeh many questions and she responded very fast. Therefore, I am very grateful for her guidance and comments throughout this semester. Last but not least, I also want to thank my group members for giving cooperation when I distributed the tasks to them.
AWS Badge

I joined AWS Academy on 8th November 2021. It took 20 hours to complete the whole course. There are ten modules in AWS academy, and it provides recorded lectures. I started watching the lecture videos on 14th November 2021, and it took me 24 days to complete the whole course. I planned to finish the modules quickly, but because I had many assignments and tests, I postponed and completed the modules during the mid-semester break. Before studying the modules, I only know Amazon as an online shopping platform. After taking this course, I began to explore how AWS provides cloud computing services and learn about how each service is applied in cloud architecture for back-end systems. Lab exercises are provided for some modules, and each module has one knowledge check quiz with ten questions in the end. The passing marks for the quizzes are 80 marks. After completing all the quizzes, lab exercises and lecture videos, I claimed my AWS Badge and completion certificate through email. The badge is white with a black border in a pentagon shape, and there is “AWS Academy” and “Graduate” words on it.
I received a badge, a completion certificate and gained extra knowledge about cloud computing through this course. What keep me motivated to complete this project is I had a group project (low fidelity prototypes) that require knowledge in AWS cloud computing services to make our cloud architecture and design. Because I am the group leader, I have to try my best to master the knowledge and lead my team members. I think getting the badge is quite hard for me because I have never learned anything about IT before and this is my first exposure to those technologies. The easiest module is Module 1 (Cloud Concepts Overview) and the hardest module is Module 6 (Compute). This badge improves my potential in industry because the knowledge of Cloud Computing is necessary for companies in the future to move their businesses to the cloud. We fresh graduates always have difficulty finding jobs because we do not have experience. But this badge proves that we have extra skills that are applicable in future jobs. Getting this badge improve my knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing a lot. The lessons in our textbook only touch the surfaces of Cloud Computing but AWS modules list and teach each of the cloud components in detail. Therefore, it strengthens my knowledge of Cloud Computing. I think every company should shift to Cloud Computing because it brings benefits to the business such as reducing operational costs, increasing efficiency and security. Every computer science student should get the AWS Badge as this is the basic knowledge acquired in the future. I will encourage my friends to get this badge as it helps to improve our values. After completing the badge, I will continue to explore more about cloud architecture and find out what is the most suitable job for me. It is really good for us the students to include this AWS badge in the SECP1513 subject as students can learn about AWS without extra charges.
