Mini Report
All the students who have been exposed to modules that focusing on information literacy strategy including me myself are invited to join this programme to mainly enhance information searching skills of the undergraduates. We have been taught with information searching skills method to access electronic information from subscribed databases/e-journals/e-books & open access resources by UTM Library, manage our bibliographies/references with Endnote (Reference Manager), checking our publication similarity with Turnitin (Plagiarism Tool) and find suitable journals to publish our research articles.
These Information literacies skills is closely related to one of the graduate attributes which is critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are related to exploring and evaluating information to make argumentation with relevant and appropriate information. It includes analyzing and synthesizing information to solve a problem where these activities are part of information literacy.
Moreover, the graduate attribute - scholarship skills is also focused in this programme. We will able to consider and define the problem area, using many different information sources, information-seeking methods and library services after involving in this programme.
Self-Reflection
In this programme, I had learnt about the information access and evaluation, which is an another important skill for our research skills toolbox. There are various aspects to information, and it's critical to grasp how these elements contribute to the writing of your research report. We may be looking for information tidbits that capture our thoughts or ideas. However, when accessing and evaluating information, we must consider the resource carefully and critically before using it to support our point in our writing assignment.
Overall, information literacy is what I learnt in this programme by planning, implementing and evaluating the information search, locating the publications, managing references and promoting academic integrity. Information literacy is defined as the ability to locate, analyse, organise, use, and transmit information in all of its forms, particularly in situations requiring decision-making, problem-solving, or knowledge acquisition. It entails a combination of research, critical thinking, computer technology, and communication abilities. Academic performance, efficient workplace functioning, and involvement in society as informed citizens all require information literacy.
