Career Development Talk 2022
The Career Development Talk was held on April 5th, 2022. SMART Club is organizing this talk via Facebook Live and Webex.
In this career development talk 2022, scholarship is discussed as an attribute of UTM graduates.
During this activity, my role is to attend the talk as a participant in order to enhance my knowledge of resume and LinkedIn in order to prepare myself for entering the workplace in the near future.
It is a Facebook activity that I participated in on 5th April 2022. As a reward for attending the event, I received an e-certificate and merit as a reward. It was a lot of fun throughout the whole activity. In case there is still this type of talk, I will actively participate. This career development talk emphasizes scholarship as one of the UTM graduate attributes. As I know, scholarship refers to the ability of students to seek and manage relevant information from a variety of sources and to be receptive to new ideas toward self-directed learning. Thus, in the talk, the organizer will provide students with tips on how to create a professional resume and use a job platform like LinkedIn effectively to assist them in entering the career industry. Besides, the speaker also explained what is the difference between a CV and a resume and what information should be included in the resume when we prepare the resume for our future employers.
As a result of this activity, I was able to develop my scholarship, for example, I was able to write a good resume and also be able to utilize several different kinds of job platforms such as LinkedIn, as well as attach my own achievements and personal information on the website, so I could find a job that was suitable for me. Overall, this talk is very helpful to me when it comes to creating my resume. As a creative person, I especially enjoy creating slide presentations using Canvas, so after participating in the talk, I'll now be able to prepare a resume that will attract employers. So, I will use my creativity and apply what had learned in creating a professional resume and attach it to different job platforms to increase the possibility of being recruited. However, joining the activity virtually is quite boring, which I find challenging. This is because I do not have the opportunity to converse face-to-face with my friends about what we heard from the talk. Therefore, to overcome this problem, I will arrange a google meet for my friends after we finish listening to the talk.
