Conceptual & Physical Design

Interaction Metaphor

  • Home

    • When pressed by the user, the “home” button will redirect the user to the main page of our smart classroom system. The home button is located at the top left corner of every page aside from the main page and it has a home for an icon.

  • On/Off

    • For every function that is required to be switch on to function, we have added an “On/Off” button. The function can simply turn on or off by a single touch on the screen. If the button is currently on the “off” position and the user press on it once, it will slide to the right and its color will change to green. Vice versa, if the button is currently on the “on” position and the user press on it once, it will slide to the left and its color will turn back to grey.

  • Add to Favorite

    • In every page we the user is able to set the setting of each function according to their likings, there will be a “favorite” button, where the user is able to save their setting for later use. For example, one room can be used by many users and the setting of the system can be changed be different users. Therefore, if one user wants to find his/her “best” setting, they can simply press on the favorite tab and select their name or setting type and the system will set everything automatically.

  • Touch/Force Feedback

    • Since our integrated system will be controlled by the users’ finger, it has the touch or force feedback function. For example, if the user press on one of the application, then there will be a slight vibration. In addition to this, if the users press and hold their finger on the screen, it will magnify the system, making everything bigger and easier to the eye, within the circle parameter.

  • Slider

    • Under our lighting function, the user is able to dim the lights in the room. We have integrated a “slider” where the user can just slide their finger up or down to either increase or decrease the brightness of the lights.
