Introduction

Welcome to my E-Portfolio. By browsing through this page, you will find out about my background, what I have done in the subject Technology and Information System, my goals in the future, my reflection throughout the learning process and more about me in the resume.

About me

My name is Tan Chong Lim. I am currently a first year student of Software Engineering in UTM. I have a deep passion in everything about technology including but not limited to computer programming, IoT, and everything about computer internet technology. Although I had not given much chances in expanding my knowledge in IT field when I was kid, this does not stop me from chasing my dream, that is, become a programmer. Now, I am given a chance to prove myself in this field.  I intending on acquiring a degree in software engineer in the next four year.

TAN CHONG LIM's Reflection RSS

Overall Reflection

This subject provides me with tons of knowledge and information about technology which is very important for a software engineering student. My lecturer indeed helped me a lot in her dedication of teaching and guiding me throughout the whole learning process in this semester. I also know more about my future career prospect and have a clear understanding about my future after attending this subject. Besides, I have learned how to protect my privacy and information from the internet and have more fundamental regarding internet security and computer networks. All of the knowledge I have learned in this subject is useful for my future and my career. I appreciate everything my lecturer taught me.

Design Thinking

From the design thinking activity, I can imply critical thinking skills into various problems. The implication of the five steps, empathy, define, ideate, prototyping and deploy had simplified the process of solving a problem. Every step in the process are essential when solving a problem As a future programmer, it is ideal for using the design thinking steps to design software. Design thinking had provided an alternative way in the future as a problem-solving technique when I face difficulty. My expect in the future is that I will use design thinking skills in various ways in my career.

OneMaker

From the one day trip to OneMaker Medini, I have learned that the rapid growth of technology produces infinite possibilities for the future. The uses of Artificial Intelligence indeed provide ease in our life. Everything can be automated using technology from opening a door, making coffee, driving a car, and even exploring the space using an AI robot. The application of technology in various field such as education, and industrial helps a country to improve itself. Therefore, one of the keys to success is technology. Everything that seems impossible at the current time is possible in the near future. It is only a matter of time.

Industrial Visit 1 - CICT

CICT plays an important role in UTM. This unit helps UTM to maintain ICT services such as database, website and etc. Every large organisation need such unit in order to improve their effectiveness. In this era of technology, IT plays an important role in every field. Therefore, software engineer becoming the fast growing job in the near future. The expanding of job opportunities in IT field indeed encouraged everyone to join this field. It might be a challenge for most people involved in this field.

NALI 2018

Education is having a revolution towards a new digital era where pen and papers are no longer needed in learning and teaching practices. Thus, we can see clearly that NALI 2018 is a platform to expand this ideology of advanced education and sharing the latest innovation in education. In this exhibition, some of the booths also use gamification which is quite a hit among the students. The researcher not only trying to improve learning and teaching lessons but also to attract students to find that learning could also be a fun thing. If these trends continue to evolve, the education in the future might be much more interesting. Maybe students do not need to attend university in order to get a scroll of degree. They can just enrolled in online courses and attends virtual lectures and opening an era where teaching and learning are beyond classes, schools or university. Generally, technology gives both educators and students the benefits to improve in many aspects, and education has become much more accessible for everyone as there are no limitations of who, where and how old they are in order to gain knowledge. There are so many possibilities in the future that will design our education system that could change the world, as education is a fundamental that will born leaders, politician, doctors, lawyers, engineers and so many more.

In conclusion, on our visits to NALI 2018, we were catching a glimpse of the future education, and we were gaining a lot of new information from different perspectives. We also gain a new experience during the visits, and we really hoped that exhibition like NALI should be held more often in other places.
