My Experience & Reflection
RSS
Recently I took part in a business pitching competition, it was a competition held under the Entrepreneurship subject where participant with new and fresh idea won the highest chance of break through the round. With months of brainstorming, me and my team came out with the idea of creating a mobile apps called "Happypaw". "Happypaw" is an application which combining both the online pet hotel boarding system and pet vaccination status. This idea was mainly came from one of our team member who previously worked at a pet shop before, this is the situation she commonly found: Most of the pet owner always fail to present their pet's vaccination statement in ordering hotel for their pet. With this amazing idea, we defeated seven of others opponents in the first round and getting nominated to go through the final round. It was totally unexpected that our idea will favored by the judges and we won the competition with 2nd runner up plus a lucky draw hamper. I am truly grateful that I was able to have these wonderful team members as everyone of us were highly commitment throughout the discussion and presentation rehearsal. We staying late together, examining and amending our presentation draft and last minute came out with inserting dialogue scene in our presentation. I think that is really worthy to sacrifice my sleep as we eventually get to enjoy the fruit of our hard work.
In the last semester, I also take part in a friendly match between UTM Chinese Debate team and SMK Mutiara Rini. This is my first experience on participating a debate competition. The debate title is “the necessary of imposing a higher tax on betting duty” which is referring to the Oregon debate, in which the content should conclude of 25% of evidence, 30% of delivery, 30% of interpellation and 15% of rebuttal. Consisting of 4 people each group, our team is the opposition one while the other team from Mutiara Rini is the proposition. Working as a team, we spend more than 2 month to preparing the debate and even staying late before the day of debate. My first debate experience is quite meaningful to me, where I get to develops communication, critical thinking and argumentation skills. I also learn from my senior on how to searching evidence or information for the discussed topic. I hope that in the oncoming semester, I get to participate again to further enhance myself from different perspectives.
An excellent experience in which it has been the long time since the last time I joining the school's camp in my secondary level. The natural getaway reminded me those of the good old days, the kampong where I live since I little, the Grandma's estate where me and my cousin always play with. The spectacular waterfall, the scattered small malay village made me totally immerse with the beauty of nature. What this hike made me so touching is that I get to know nice person and we encourage and provide mentally support for each other throughout the hike. Filled with a strong sense of accomplishment and achievement, we eventually finish the hike and reach the peak of Mount Pulai. The way back to the foot of the mountain was not quite smoothly as how we climb up, we go through a sudden heavy rain until we get to find a temporary shelter but this did not upset me as the journey are much more meaningful with the accompany of each other.
Joining Ajar-ajar program under Peace Owner Society (POS) has also become one of my weekly routine. Ajar-ajar program is a free tuition that supporting the sustainable social growth and quality education. In every Wednesday. I play the role as a volunteer teacher, giving tuition towards children from poor family or single parent whom facing the financial difficulties. Within one hour, I teach them with their homework, help them coping difficult subject and provide addition exercise to enhance their academic result and performance. The 1 by 1 mode of teaching environment let me know them better and building a trust relationship with them after a long period in joining this program. Ajar-ajar is truly a encouraging platform that transforming me to be a perfect person, filled with empathy by providing me the great opportunity to sharing my love and care towards children.
