Computer Fair 2024 (Compfair' 24) Opening Ceremony

    I had the privilege of serving as an usher during the opening ceremony of Compfair'24 organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (Persaka). The event took place at Dewan Kejora N28a, on the 16th of November 2023, starting at 1.30 pm and concluding at 3.00 pm.

     As an usher, my primary responsibilities included guiding attendees to their seats, providing information about the event schedule and venue layout, and ensuring a smooth flow of guests during the opening ceremony. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Computing, special guests, and the director of the program. 

   Effective communication was paramount in assisting guests. I provided clear and concise directions, communicated event details, and addressed queries from attendees. This experience allowed me to refine both verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Moreover, working collaboratively with fellow ushers and coordinating efforts contributed to a well-organized ceremony. The experience enhanced both my teamwork and leadership skills, as I had the opportunity to guide and support my usher partner.

Self-Reflection

     Participating as an usher in the Compfair'24 Opening Ceremony was not only a responsibility but a valuable learning experience. The role demanded effective communication, and I found myself providing clear and concise directions to guests, communicating intricate event details, and promptly addressing queries. This hands-on interaction allowed me to refine both my verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

     Collaborating with fellow ushers was a crucial aspect of ensuring a seamless event. Coordinating efforts to guide guests and maintain order contributed significantly to the overall success of the ceremony. This collaborative effort not only enhanced my teamwork skills but also presented opportunities to exercise leadership. Supporting and guiding my usher partner underscored the importance of effective leadership in achieving shared goals.

     Overall, the Compfair'24 ushering experience was more than just a role; it was a multifaceted learning journey. The experience has left me with a sense of accomplishment and a set of skills that extend far beyond the confines of the ceremony. I look forward to applying these newfound skills in future endeavors, both personally and professionally.
