Mini report:
The Bionite Dinner 2019 was held beautifully by our seniors, celebrating the 4th year students on their last semester. There were gimmicks, singing performances, and awards. My classmate, Muhammad Aidil Wafi bin Rosli, and I were chosen to be the moderators for that evening after an audition that we went through together. I am myself a very talkative person, but talking as a moderator was quite difficult for me to handle. We practiced whenever we had the chance, over and over again even until we got dressed for the dinner. We had 2 different tasks on how we hosted- read the script in a polite manner for formal introductions and closing, and speak informally towards each other and the audience for fun and spontaneous act. It was very challenging especially when the audience did not give the reaction that you hoped for. We had to improvise a lot, according to the mood and last-minute changes of details. It was also unbearable to keep a straight face for me when things did not go as planned, but that was the job- to control the movements in that room and lead with convincing words. Fortunately, we handled it very well from the beginning until the end of the dinner.
Reflection:
Overall, it was a fresh experience that I had to went through and I am glad that I was chosen to do it in the first place. I was able to see the extend of what I am capable of doing and I learn a lot from it. It was also very pleasant to get to know the seniors, to see different perspectives and different communication styles. I was very amused and inspired especially being the first year student, everything was an eye-opening.
