Achievement of the Course:

  • Able to understand the evolution/development of the thought in science and technology in human civilization from the ancient time untill now

  • Able to understand the eco-system in the scientific thinking that includes relations between human and religion, the importance of believe system, ethics and morality, as well as the roles of science in human daily life.

  • Able to understand science as a social activity, i.e. to consider how interactions between people, institutions, and material structures shape what we mean by “science” and“technology”
  • Able to articulate important differences between science and technology and to explore the relationship between them through specific case studies

  • Able to pursue a critical view of scientific knowledge-formation and technological innovation 

  • Able to  discuss a  social impacts of new technologies and consider the ethics of technical and scientific practice
