Sharing Session: The Universe In A Telescope

Mini Report

In 21 October 2022, I have join a program that been organized by UTM Astronomy Club (UTMAC) that was conducted online via Facebook Live. In the program, UTMAC has created an opportunity for us to learn or explore more about the outer space which we can see using our telescope. It is 2 hours long of informative session by our two speakers which are Assoc. Prof. Dr Abd Khamim Ismail and Sr Gs. Dr Othman Bin Zainon. Not to forget our Emcee (Goh Yitian) which help the program to went smoothly. In the sharing session also shows us about different types of telescopes and we can also make Do It Yourself (DIY) telescope. Another part of sharing session also explain how our universe comes to be by looking different types of theories such as Big Bang, Steady State, Edwin Hubble, Uncertainty Principle, and Newton. Not only that, they also share the information about the history of how telescope are created such as from the golden age of looking stars for navigation until how they created the telescope. Lastly, UTMAC also created a quiz section using Quizizz which you can get prizes (money) based on what you have learned from the sharing session.

Self - Reflection

While I was tuning in to the program by UTMAC, I have gained extra knowledge about the universe in telescope which is the outer space/ solar system. In the sharing session, I am able to differentiate different kinds of telescope based on the different items that are used in the telescope. I also learned that we can create our own telescope using DIY items and I can say it is worth a try to do it, if you have the proper equipment. They also include the different types of equation that are used in Physics that help me to recall some of my memories about lenses. Another sharing session is about the history of our universe, the history of creating the telescope which are interesting to learn about. To add the cherry on top of the cake, UTMAC also provided quiz section for the viewers to participate to earn some prizes based on what they had learn about the sharing session. In my opinion, they had done a great job on doing this program and I cannot thank you enough to UTMAC for this opportunity to let me participate in this sharing session.
