Program Report
Jazari Online Recruitment Workshop ‘21 is an annual program based on the robotic and innovation concept is seen as one of the programs that can be a catalyst for the unification of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia students in particular. It was conducted online to open new members recruitment among first year and second year students locally or internationally. This effort should be implemented continuously to foster a spirit of unity among students through the games provided by JORG.
The objectives are lined for this program are to encourage students' brilliance in the world of robotics and automation that is rapidly building in Malaysia as well gives the opportunity to learn something new, outside the room college. Besides, to increase the involvement of UTM students to apply important elements that need to be mastered, namely understanding and use of smart technology while fostering students' general skills and involvement in activities outside of academic schedules. We as the committee members trying our best to Provide students with the latest technological advancements, as well as opportunities to apply their skills in the games based on their creativity.
Jazari Online Recruitment Workshop 21: Arbiters of Mind (JORW'21)
I first joined JORW’20 because I was originally interested in robotic since in matriculation. After being able to get into Jazari Innovation Club as a permanent member, I decided to join the committee members for JORW’21 to feel the excitement of handling the workshop for recruiting new members. One of the graduate attributes that I achieved while handling the workshop is communication skills. Since I am also a mentor for the participants, I need to communicate well with them to guide them in handling the Arduino kit for the first time. I faced no issue in communicating since all of my mentees are Malay and they prefer me to communicate with them in Malay.
Next, the graduate attribute that was highlighted for everyone in this workshop is global citizen. Participants of JORW’21 are needed to come up with a fresh idea of innovation that will benefit the community. We as the committee members were indirectly came up with our own ideas to give inspiration for the participants on what project they should do. Since we are living in pandemic era, I came up with an idea of automatic sanitizing machine and illustrate it into TinkerCAD online application.
Challenges that I faced while being a treasurer for JORW’21 was I do not have any experience in dealing with Jabatan Bendahari UTM and there were so many processes that I need to go through. During the period of claiming funds from HEMA, I have to keep update and change all related documents according to what were needed by HEMA. I could not get any guidance from previous treasurer since he was on his industrial training. Thankfully, all the staff from HEMA itself help me a lot during all processes even though there were a few miscommunications here and there. Honestly, handling this program helps me grow a lot in the point experience.
