SARAH WARDINA BINTI RAFIDIN's Reflection
RSS
Entering the university world is definitely exciting and terrifying at the same time. As a Computer Science student majoring in Data Engineering, or, as a student generally, my goal is of course, to do my best in my academics. Being in the dean’s list for every semester is what I need to do for my future. It is true when people say academics is not the only way for you to become a successful person, but no one can deny that it does help you to get a job to survive in life.
During my semester 1, there were many new things I discovered whether in the technology world, or just our reality. This allowed me to think critically about the current state of the world and what organisations can do to achieve the vision .The program has also opened my eyes and contradicts my prior expectations about working in an organisation as it taught me about how to prepare myself for employment and increase my likelihood for employability. For instance, my courses taught me about data collecting and conducting research which would be essential when working in an organisation. I could also use this knowledge to conduct research about a company of my interest to know about the qualities that I need to have in order to be hired and to ace my job interviews. Other than that, the program gave me an opportunity to enhance my communication and leadership skills. As it was a group work, we started out barely knowing each other and ended up developing a good work relationship whereby every member of the group participated equally and communicated efficiently to complete the project.
In conclusion, the university has provided an excellent education, one of it being in the form of this subject whereby I was able to improve my soft skills. Apart from the subject content, I also gained time management and communication skills which are valuable skills to possess for the future. All in all, this subject has taught me valuable lessons that I will store and use for years to come.
