Mini Report

User education webinar 2021 is a library event that involves undergraduates students from various schools and faculties. The objectives of the webinar are to taught students on how to do research information literacy.

Through the webinar, I was taught about  Information Searching Skills, Turnitin, Endnote and Where to publish. The facilitator from the UTM Library provided an informative and clear explanation. It was an interactive webinar, and I gained a lot of knowledge and skills that will help me with research.

I had learned about the attributes of graduates, which are thinking skills. Where I can create and implement an effective research strategy using a variety of search tools, accurately interpret results, and locate authoritative information relevant to the topic. With these skills, I am able to apply what I have learned throughout the webinar, particularly Information Searching Skills, and the correct website to which I can refer to obtain the correct information.

Self- reflection

As a student, this event had an impact on me. It has enabled me to gain a great deal of knowledge and to know the best way to conduct research. At first, I thought the webinar would teach me general research information, but as I listened in, the facilitator did an excellent job of demonstrating and showing live how to conduct research. It had an impact on me as a student because the skills will be used frequently during my studies.

Although it may appear that everyone is aware of it, the modules planned by the organiser were reliable and informative to me. During the webinar, I was in second year and working on a case study for an English course, so the webinar helped me apply and find the right source to choose an article. Even though it is difficult to remember what I learned at first, I usually just pick any article on the website. I keep reminding myself to find a reliable article on UTM Library or SAGE Open.

As a result, the webinar was excellent and left participants with critical thinking skills for conducting research and information literacy. I hope many students were aware of the topic because it was extremely useful in their studies.
